Back in the palace

"That was quite a long day," Zara said as she leaped onto her bed, Eugene watched her open the snacks bag while sitting on the chair next to her.

String cheese, crackers, raisins, sandwiches, milk biscuits, and everything else Zara loved was in their backpack.

Zara put some milk cookies on her adorable Alaskan dog's plate, "Here you go, Holly."

"Here you go too," she gave Eugene some as well.

"Thank you,"

In contrast to the palace chefs who use less ingredients and prepare specific snacks to maintain the health of the royal bodies, Zara preferred eating snacks from the village rather than those prepared in the palace because the villager cooked them without worrying about being overly thin or fat.

Zara had a well-defined body, a her dark, golden eyes and her burnished complexion were accentuated by her silky eyelashes and arched eyebrows, Her dark, golden hair reached her shoulders.

Eugene was a petite, pale woman with mesmerizing blue eyes, strawberry red hair that she often coiled into two ponytails, and a natural pink lips.

They both stopped the cookies from going into their mouths as they heard a knock on the door, and a dizzying feeling of anxiousness hit them.

Zara mumbled to Eugene, "Hurry...," as she wiped the cookie crumbs from her mouth and tried to conceal them beneath the bed before the room's door opened.

"What is the problem, hiding something?" a boy who bore a striking resemblance to Zara stood by the door, grinning.

Charles was the type of brother who enjoyed spotting his sister's problems for his own amusement. He set a trap for Zara yesterday by setting a bucket of mud on top of her room door, and it spilled all over her. Their parents did nothing but tell Charles to apologize, but Zara is still upset with him because it was not the first time he had done that to her and gotten away with it.

"Why do you feel so upset when you see me?"

"There is no delight in seeing you because seeing you around equals difficulty," Zara said, as Charles gave a phony gasp and that vile laugh Zara detested more than anything else.

Zara reprimanded, "Please leave my room," already fed up with her brother's antics.

"Not until you give some of those snacks with you,"

"I won't,"

"I will tell on you then,"

She said, "Okay," with a grin that caught Charles off guard.

"All right, I apologize," Charles said in a mockery tone, since threatening her wasn't working.

She responded, "I have no use of that bogus apologies," as she got out of bed.

Before Zara closed the door behind him, he begged, "What do you want me to do for you to give me?" He also preferred the snacks from the village to those from the palace.

"I'm not giving you anything until you apologize GENUINELY," she demanded, as Charles rolled his eyes with a smirk, why is his sister so emotional.

"I did that few minutes ago,"

"Like I said GENUINELY," she demanded, shutting the door as Charles stopped her before she could lock it.

"Fine, I'm... sorry," he apologize, hoping Zara would see his sincerity now,

"That's much better, come get yours," she exclaimed with a crismp nod, she left the door wide open for him and went to where Eugene kept the snacks to divide a portion for him.

"Here you go," Charles really want to complain about how small his own is but doesn't do so for the fear of being kicked out.

"Thanks," he murmured after noticing his sister long gaze at him, Eugene just smiled at the royal siblings silent fight, she wish she had a siblings as well although Zara felt more like a sister to her she wasn't a royal blood.

When Eugene's parents died, she was only a few months old and everyone accused her of being a witch. She had been living with her aunt, who had always mistreated her. One day, when her aunt's son fell ill, her aunt told everyone that she was to blame. The villagers tied her up to be burned alive, but King George was passing and prevented them from doing so. he took her to the palace with him and that was how she became Zara's maid.

"Sorry my princess but your father seeks your presence," a young maid interrupted just as Zara gave her brother a glare, he was the last person to enter her room and he didn't consider to close it.

Charles just shrugged and went to eating his snacks which got Zara more annoyed.

"Okay, I be on my way in a short minutes,"

"Why are you still standing there," Zara questioned the maid who refuse to leave.

"Am sorry my princess but he instructed me not to leave your room untill you follow me,"

"So what now you want to force me out," she bellowed mildly, she didn't want to leave the room knowing Eugene,Holly and most especially Charles will eat all the cookies before she comes back,

"Fine...,let go" she got out of her bed hesitantly whispering a warning to everyone in the room before she left.

"Well since she isn't around I guess I can have a little of her sponge cake, ohh... and this..., and that as well," he took almost everything on Zara's plate before getting up to leave, Eugene who couldn't stop the future king of Baneria just watch him leave.

She quickly lock the door before he decides to come back for more just to turn and receive another shocking sight.

"Holly...," Holly had already finished the remaining snacks, "hmmm...bad doogie,"
