At last, the car slowed down, turning down a gravel driveway toward the entrance. I watched as elegantly dressed people walked out through the huge front door, heading straight for us.
Other black cars slowly parked behind us, and our car stood out among them. The closer the palace workers got to our car, the more nervous I became.
No matter how long it took Dennis to handle what he needed to do, this was going to be my new home. I had this feeling that once I stepped inside, there would be no escaping.
"I only have one request for you, Gianna," Dennis said as he leaned closer. His breath against my neck made me shiver. "Stay with Jessica or Allen. Don't trust anyone else. Understand?"
I nodded, and just as I did, the car door opened. Dennis stepped out first, then turned to me, extending his hand to help me out.
But as soon as I stepped out, he walked away, and Allen and Jessica stood on either side of me. I had no way out now.
