As I was getting used to the new environment in my room, I heard a knock at the door. I opened it, and there stood Jessica.
"Hey, sweetheart, are you hungry?" Jessica asked. "How about we go eat together?"
"With everyone else?" I hesitated, looking at her.
"Yeah, I heard tonight's dinner is very amazing," she said.
The last dinner I attended had been a disaster for me. I didn't know who would try to cause trouble this time. I shrank back.
Jessica saw right through me, smiling as she took my hand. "Everything will be fine. Don't worry."
"You said that last time," I replied. "I have a bad feeling about this."
As Jessica helped me get dressed, I once again felt like I looked stunning.
My long hair was curled and partly pinned up. My makeup was flawless, with little touches of blush on my cheeks that made me look more innocent.
