Dennis' POV
The harsh fluorescent lights in the hallway made my eyes burn. I felt a wave of frustration building inside me.
Especially when I thought about the way Gianna had looked at me, it made me feel like I was some kind of unforgivable monster. Her scent still lingered on my shirt.
When the soldier knocked on the door, I could barely hold back my anger, but somehow I managed to keep it under control.
I walked into the library hall, scanning the area for Lawrence, when I saw a familiar, and frankly unwelcome, face. It was Scarlett.
She was dressed up, looking all prim and proper. She was wearing a brightly colored striped dress, and the chaotic mix of colors made my head spin.
As soon as she saw me, she hurried over and linked her arm to mine. "Oh, Alpha, Dennis, so happy to see you here," she said, all smiles.
The overpowering scent of her perfume made me want to gag. I pulled my arm away from hers.
