THE SHADOW IN THE CORNER

ORIGIN: Various Cultural Urban Legends

This is a haunting tale that has circulated across so many cultures.

All versions of the legend describe a dark figure that seems to live in the periphery of one's vision, always staying in the corners of rooms.

This entity is absolutely NOT merely a trick of the light but is believed to be an evil presence that observes, waits, and feeds on fear.

The legend begins with someone moving into a new home or apartment.

At first, the resident notices little movements in the corner of their eye— a flip, or a swerve, or a flicker of darkness in the corner of the room.

Each time they turn to look, nothing is there.

As the days go by, the feeling of being watched increases to an extreme.

The shadow soon becomes more 'defined', resembling a tall, human like figure with no feature— eyes, ears, nose and mouth— in its dark ball of a head.

It never moves directly; it only shifts when the person isn't looking.

And the more fear loops it's jaws around the person, the stronger and bolder the entity becomes.

Eventually it will step forward, looming over the bed of its victim at night.

Almost everyone this happens to, disappears without a trace

Those who have survived encounters with IT say that acknowledging the shadow exists…

…. Grants it power.

It thrives on attention, and once it knows you see it, it will NEVER leave…

… Till it has want it wants.
