Chapter 24:The Truth Revealed

Léon took a deep breath, his eyes locked onto Aurélie's. "I was involved with a group of people who were involved in some... shady dealings," he said, his voice low and serious. "I thought I was just doing some freelance work for them, but it turned out they were using me to launder money and cover their tracks."

Aurélie's eyes widened in shock. "What did you do?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Léon shook his head. "I didn't know what was going on at first," he said. "But when I found out, I tried to get out. I went to the authorities, but they couldn't protect me. That's when I entered witness protection."

Aurélie's mind was racing with questions and fears. "Are you still in danger?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Léon nodded. "Yes, I am," he said. "The people I was involved with are still out there, and they'll stop at nothing to silence me. But I have to live my life, Aurélie. I have to take the risk."

Aurélie felt a surge of emotion. She was scared for Léon, but she was also proud of him. He was brave, and he was willing to take risks to live his life.

"What can I do to help?" she asked, her voice firm.

Léon smiled, his eyes filling with tears. "Just being here for me, Aurélie, means everything," he said. "I don't know what I would do without you."

Aurélie's heart melted. She knew that she had made the right decision. She was going to stand by Léon, no matter what.

But as they hugged, Aurélie couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. She looked around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Still, the feeling persisted. And Aurélie couldn't help but wonder if they were in more danger than they thought.
