Chapter 22: The academy

The falcon gracefully came down landing on the open field constructed just for the flying beasts.

Many other majestic beasts can be seen around the place landing and taking place. But none dared act arrogant here. As the sole king of the sky, Owsdin statue was here. Radiating aura as if he's still alive.

As soon Kairos came down from the falcon. It left right away, just like the other beasts. Making Kairos again realize how grand the owsdin academy really is.

Kairos didn't dwell on here for long and right away headed for the huge main entrance. The huge front gate stood imposingly, showing the prestige and power of the academy and deterring those with stupid ideas.

Tall marbled walls that protected the academy atop which were statues of different races made at equal distance, giving the academy quite a fierce appearance.

Yet even such tall walls could not hide those majestic towers that reached the very sky.

After some time, The steel doors, one white and one black were wide open carriages of noble families were allowed to enter.

Above the gate stood the greatest statue ever made, the symbol of the academy. The statue of owsdin. A majestical dragon, the wisest of them with two majestic horns protruding from the forehead with his hair half-black and half-white gazing towards the sky.

His eyes scanned everywhere, taking in the crowd of students before he started walking towards the majestic gates of the academy.

After enrolling here, one cannot leave the academy until mastering the first circle.Additionally, they are not allowed to bring their servants as Owsdin Academy follows a credit system like the other two academies.

As they approached, Kairos saw dozens of help desks stationed at the side of the entrance. Many people were lining up at the desks for identification and verification of their identities and their qualifications.

Nobels doesn't have to go through such procedures but Commoners had to.

The line moved slowly, inching forward as each person ahead of him went through their identification process.

Finally, it was Kairos's turn at the desk. The clerk, a thin man with a permanent frown etched into his face, barely looked up as he gestured for Kairos to present his documents.

"Name?" the clerk asked, his voice as flat as the parchment in front of him.

"Kairos," he replied.

"Full name."

"I don't have one," Kairos answered, his voice steady.

The clerk raised an eyebrow but didn't comment further. It wasn't uncommon for orphans or those from poor villages to have only a first name. Still, the disdain in the clerk's face was noticable.

"Place of origin?" he continued.

"Korinth Village."

The clerk nodded,He held up a crystalline orb, the size of a fist, Glowing with faint blue light. "Place your hand on the orb for verification.

Kairos did as instructed, his hand hovering above the cool surface for a moment before resting against it. The orb pulsed with light, flickering faintly before glowing a steady blue. The clerk gave a curt nod.

"Identification matched. You qualify for admission into Owsdin Academy. Your dormitory and class schedules will be assigned after orientation. Follow the path to the left"

He made his way past the bustling crowd and finally reached the grand entrance.

People were entering one by one after scanning their identification badge.

Seeing his turn about to come. He swiped the palm-sized brown colored badge on the pillar. The pillar shined, turning green.

Without any delay, he stepped through the small gate, which was for a single person at a time.

He wondered for whom they'd open the huge front gate for.

As Kairos passed through the gate, he paused to take in his new surroundings. Massive stone walls stretched high above, enclosing the perfectly manicured gardens and courtyards teeming with students.

But as he was lost in thoughts a sudden angry shout came from behind.

"Move quickly! How much longer will you block the entrance?"

Kairos flinched and immediately realized what he was doing. He stepped aside to let the person go in.

He looked at the owner of the voice. A red-haired girl glared back at him, their eyes briefly meeting for a second before she looked ahead and walked faster.

"The academy is really full of monsters," Kairos muttered quietly under his breath and turned away, the girl had managed to sneak up behind him. Even though he was distracted, it was by no means an easy feat for people of his age.

Meaning unlike the other people that girl has already mastered mana to some extent already.

Also The fierceness in her eyes was enough to reveal her mindset too.

He really couldn't be careless. He have seen the owsdin academy and entered it multiple times but it was after the academy has fallen down. Thus seeing it all good and had it glorious high towers intact he was really in awe.

Sighing once more,he soon followed the crowd of students towards the right side where the ceremony for the new students would be held.

As he followed, he couldn't help but gaze at everyone, including the onlookers from some of the buildings. They were the senior students.

In his past life, The academy was reduced to ruins and broken buildings. And the dark age of humanity came.

Just thinking about the upcoming events and what was about to happen, he felt worried. He has very little information about the upcoming events. But despite that, he wanted to try stop those by any means.

They soon arrived at the ceremony field for the new students.

The ceremony field stretched out, with neatly arranged rows of seats for the new students. A stage stood at the front, adorned with the academy's emblem, a black and white Dragon.

Banners fluttered in the breeze, displaying the crests of noble families and the Empire across the entire continent.

Distinguished faculty members in robes sat on a raised platform, overseeing the proceedings.

To the side of the stage, Images showcased holographic images of the academy's illustrious history.

And of course, the holographic image of the leading seven heroes was also displayed among them. One specific image caught everyone's attention.

Kairos's gaze stopped at that holographic image too,

[ The Last Living Dragon, the founder of the academy ]

Owsdin, even through just a holographic image, exuded a majestic and imposing pressure.

Two white horns sprouted from his forehead, pointing upwards, as if contending with the heavens. He had a mixture of long white and black hair, along with striking ocean blue eyes that conflicted with his ferociously majestic presence.

Although quite dwarfed by Oswdins presence, everyone still gazed at the holograms of the seven heroes with pride and awe. These were the leading figures who saved humanity from extinction when the demons arose from the northern side of the world for an unknown reason.

They destroyed the renowned Holy Empire along with the continent of the Spirit Race. It was only because of these leading heroes that the living could preserve this fertile land. Although the heroes were strong due to Owsdin's great sacrifice, they still couldn't hold the land against such forces alone. Only with the Protection of the 9th circle Forcefield, a last gift bestowed by the last living Dragon Owsdin , which covered the entire continent were they barely able to contend against the invaders.

But

" Heh, last living dragon? Kairos didn't completely agree.

As for the reason?

When the dark age began with the collapse of the Five Crest and the Star Association, numerous ancient powers emerged as protectors of the continent. Among them, one arose from the forest of the Elves and the last surviving tribe of the Spirit Race. It was Gresssia, a living Dragon of nature, who emerged to save the last remaining continent.

"Heh, in fact, this wasn't the last remaining continent either," Kairos chuckled.

"We are like frogs at the bottom of a well," Kairos shook his head, looking at that imposing stage.

"I have to be prepared. But for now, let's focus."

Surveying the available seats, he found a good spot to sit down. Observing how people were taking their seats, he quickened his pace towards it.

Securing the spot, he looked down at the crystal on the arm rest.
