"I even arranged for your housemate to send you flowers," Jayden exclaimed, his enthusiasm growing. I realized he was just one of many admirers Catherine had encountered before. However, it was evident she had never been romantically involved with him.
Noticing Jayden's fervor, I unconsciously drew Catherine closer. She responded by leaning in, her frustration apparent as she addressed Jayden tersely, "Rehashing old memories is pointless. It's all irrelevant now."
Jayden's gesture halted mid-air, his face revealing his discomfort. At that instant, Amanda hurried forward, clumsily pulling at Jayden's sleeve.
"What are you doing?" Jayden barked, irritably shrugging her off. "Can't I catch up with an old acquaintance?"
Amanda withdrew, visibly shaken. I had never seen her so disconcerted before.
"You must be Miss Catherine," Amanda said, forcing a grin as her eyes darted between Catherine and me. "I inquired about you before coming. You're his fiancée, correct?"
