While Kyrell was retreating back to his clan accompanied by the Wind Serpent and Melissa along with the Serpent Death Guards that Fraser brought with him, the battle between two Spirit Nourisher Cultivators began.
One is from the Orthodox Clan of the Thousand Mountain City and the other one is an evil cultivator from the Abyss Serpent Sect. It was not every day that two high-level cultivators got the chance to fight each other.
However, if possible, Kyrell wouldn't want such a battle to happen at all. He was extremely worried for his father.
"My apologies, Young Master, I was not able to protect you properly" Melissa said sincerely, her head hanging low and Kyrell glanced at her.
"It's not your fault. Aside from my father, who can guarantee my safety in front of a Spirt Nourisher evil cultivator?" Kyrell replied.
Cultivators in that realm are at the pinnacle. There is a huge difference in strength between Genetic Awakeners and Genetic Strengtheners, even more so for Genetic Strengtheneners and Spirit Nourishers as the latter are special.
If not, why is it that only factions with Spirit Nourishers are the truly strong factions?
"Take an antidote, your face is not looking good. I still need you to protect me" Kyrell continued after seeing the pale complexion of Melissa.
With Zero's help, he was able to see the entirety of the battlefield earlier. He knew that Melissa was poisoned.
The needles slowed down the spread of the poison but since she continued fighting despite being poisoned, it hastened the spread of the poison.
It was fortunate that the Evander Family often deals with poison and naturally, they developed quite a number of antidotes. Since the poison used was nothing special, just one generic antidote was enough for Melissa to recover.
"Understood, Young Master" Melissa replied and she retrieved a small glass vial from her weapon pouch. She drank the antidote and now, it is only a matter of time before she completely recovered.
As soon as Kyrell saw the gates of the clan, he heaved a sigh of relief. Fortunately, he didn't encounter any danger along the way, and with his identity, he easily entered the clan and returned to his courtyard.
"Melissa, call the other Serpent Death Guards and have them hide in the dark while my father has not returned yet" he ordered.
It might sound cowardly but Kyrell has no intention of putting his pride first rather than his life. Since there is danger, he would call as many guards as possible to protect him.
"Understood, Young Master" Melissa replied and complied with the orders.
Minutes and hours passed since Kyrell returned but his father was still nowhere to be seen. He became anxious and from time to time, he was asking for an update from his maid.
"Melissa, has my father not returned yet?" Kyrell asked and the maid shook her head causing the former to frown.
"Is there any news now? Surely, a battle between two Spirit Nourisher cultivators must have spread in the city, right?"
At that, Melissa shook her head again, as baffled as Kyrell was. "There's no news, Young Master. The servants I sent out said that everything was normal. No one knows that such an event is happening"
A frown appeared on Kyrell's face. No news at all? How is that possible?
Spirit Nourishers can slaughter entire cities on their own. They are so strong that only another Spirit Nourisher cultivator can possibly defeat them. How is it possible that there was no news of their battle reaching the city people's ears even after hours had passed?
No matter how abnormal the situation was, Kyrell was too powerless to do anything significant. He can only clench his fist in indignation.
"Inform me immediately if there is any news" he ordered before closing his eyes. As anxious as he was, what could he do without enough power? He might as well cultivate!
Kyrell resumed his cultivation. He was sitting in a meditative posture and started circulating the Spirit Serpent Art.
The art helped him digest the Mana Essence Potion he consumed and bit by bit, his mana reserves were increasing. The Jade Serpent inside his [Spirit Seal Space] was also slowly being converted to a Spirit Serpent.
Once the serpent has been fully converted, Kyrell can then start learning the art's core skill. The first core skill that he can learn with the Spirit Serpent Art is the [Core Skill: Serpentification].
This core skill grants him the ability to turn his body parts into serpents that can attack. Of course, the most common is turning one's arms into serpents. Other parts of the body are harder to transform compared to the arms.
It was also when a cultivator mastered the serpentification to at least the mastery level that they could start learning another core skill that is a derivative of the serpentification that one of his uncles from the side branch used previously.
The [Core Skill: Serpent Substitution Technique] is a life-saving skill. When the cultivator is about to face an attack they are not able to dodge, they can convert their whole bodies into multiple serpents to save themselves.
Kyrell wants to grow stronger as fast as possible and every second counts!
Soon, the glowing sun above was replaced by the gently shining moon. Only when night arrived did something good happen.
Out of nowhere, Fraser appeared in front of the cultivating Kyrell. The Serpent Death Guards were immediately about to launch a round of attack after a person suddenly appeared but they stopped after realizing who this person was.
Hearing that familiar voice, Kyrell quickly opened his eyes and was greatly relieved to see Fraser.
"Father!" Kyrell called, the anxiety in his heart lessening.
"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" He asked out of genuine concern.
"Don't worry, your father is fine" Fraser answered but his face was clearly gloomy. Whatever happened today was definitely not good, visible in his bad complexion.
"What happened? Why is it that no one knows about your battle? There are very few scenarios that could have happened that would make that possible" Kyrell questioned. He has certain suspicions about the events that transpired today.
"If the other clans and factions knew about your battle; surely, they should have helped, right?" He continued.
For the orthodox cultivators, the evil cultivators are their enemies. More often than not, when the two sides meet, it is a battle to death.
This was what confused Kyrell, if the orthodox cultivator factions inside the city were to learn that an Elder at the Spirit Nourisher realm of the Abyss Serpent Sect was present, they would surely join hands to kill her.
"They didn't have the chance to know" Fraser replied and as smart as Kyrell, he understood the implication of his father's words and his face darkened too.
"Then... you... how...?" Kyrell asked but Fraser just shook his head, unwilling to give an answer.
"What's important is that I am here and I am safe. In the next few months, I want you to focus on cultivation and avoid going outside. Always stay inside the Clan"
"Right, I heard you are interested in potion-making. I will have your Uncle Ignis to come and teach you tomorrow. He is the best pharmacist in our family. You can learn a lot from him"
Kyrell nodded his head at that. No matter how disastrous the events that happened today, life must go on. The plans that they have must continue.
"Thank you, father" Kyrell thanked sincerely before he knitted his brows and he thought of something.
"Father, isn't the enrollment for the Royal Academy in the Capital City of Everbright next month? Aren't I supposed to go?" He asked, such an important thing definitely isn't something that his father would forget.
The resources one could obtain in the Royal Academy were plentiful and all factions with Spirit Nourisher cultivators could send at least one enrollee. The quota depends on how strong the faction is.
"Do you want to go to the Royal Academy?" Fraser questioned and as two smart people, Kyrell knew that question was not as simple as it sounds.
He already has some suspicions but some words are not meant to say out loud. It was enough that you had an idea.
"It's not that I strongly want to attend the Royal Academy. I just know that it is a great place for me to further my cultivation" he answered tactfully and Fraser nodded his head before asking another question.
"If there is a place you previously didn't think you would need to go but still could also help you with your cultivation... would you go?"
Kyrell can't help but raise his eyebrows. The suspicions inside his heart growing stronger and he was even more certain of some hypothesis that he has.
"If I had a choice, I would choose the safer place if both of them can help me with my cultivation. But if I can only enter the more dangerous place, I would mind but I would still accept the arrangements as long as it could help me become stronger"
