Chapter 6

As my mother and the authorities entered alongside Kevin, they were struck by the stench of decomposing bodies.

Kevin scurried over to me, tugging at my mother's hand.

"Grandma, see, mommy's not paying attention to me. Why is mommy ignoring me?"

When my mother lifted the blanket, the sight of the gaping, blood-soaked wound in my chest caused her immense anguish.

Alex followed, and upon seeing my condition, he was stunned into silence.

"This can't be happening, how could this occur..."

"Isabel, you can't be dead! Please wake up!"

Overcome with rage, my mother repeatedly struck Alex, tears streaming down her face.

"Isabel's been dead for days and you hadn't noticed?! What kind of person are you?? How can you call yourself a husband and father!"

My mother slapped Alex across the face. He stood there, bewildered, staring at my lifeless body and muttering.

"No, I never imagined Isabel would die!"
