CHAPTER 33

I had no doubt Frank would do exactly as he'd said. I'd seen him kill before, and I knew he didn't make empty threats. But the idea of someone dying because of me—even if it was their fault—didn't sit right. I wasn't sure I wanted that kind of weight on my conscience.

"I don't think that's the best way to handle it," I said, my voice cautious.

Frank raised an eyebrow, his arms folded across his chest. "What do you mean?"

Luke chimed in, his tone is matter-of-fact. "She means killing the bodyguard if he tries anything with her."

"And?" Frank asked, his expression unreadable.

"It's too extreme," I said, my voice rising. "I don't want someone's death on my hands."

Frank leaned forward, his eyes locked on mine. "If he dies, it won't be because of you. It'll be because he was stupid enough to ignore my orders."

I opened my mouth to argue, but Luke cut me off.
