"Oh well, I have been watching for a good while now. If it was a month or so ago, then I wouldn't have been able to do this at all. I was only able to do it lately. I suppose it is also because I was getting more acquainted with how they act."
She started blabbering about the shows as well.
She had watched even videos of such shows that she was able to come up with these conjectures.
Having this emotion in this scene.
Or doing this action in another scene.
Because of that, she became sleep-deprived.
She felt like she was a fish that finally got the chance to swim in the vast ocean, no longer contained by the four walls of an aquarium.
She stopped when she heard him chuckle.
She blinked in confusion before her brows slowly furrowed, "Is there something wrong, Senior?"
Victor was already laughing, "No… it's not like that. How should I say this…"
He took a deep breath, "Lawrence was right. Taking you in would be a good boost to ED."
"EH?!?"
People turned to them.
"I… I'm sorry," Beatrice cleared her throat and again looked at Victor.
"I will have you come to our audition in two weeks' time. We will be preparing for the year-end performance."
Beatrice stared at him, "Uhmmm, audition? ED is opening an audition for the year-end performance?"
Victor shook his head, "No. It will be an audition within the group, and who will take what role. As you may already be aware, the year-end performance is highly popular. A lot of recruiters will be there. And a lot of aspiring actors and actresses are also looking forward to it."
"But won't that be too much? I am not a part of ED, and auditioning and competing against those who are already within the group…"
She trailed off.
She did not wish to cause another trouble for herself.
Victor smirked, "Auditioning doesn't mean you will be getting a part."
Beatrice at first stared blankly at him before, very slowly, a confident smile appeared on her lips, shocking him more.
"If it's an audition, what I'd really want would be the main character after all. And I am quite competitive."
"…"
Victor suddenly started laughing again.
"Fine. And don't worry about the group. This is normal for ED. Since Lawrence became the artistic director, we would have sudden auditions, including those who are not part of ED, here and there for roles in important shows. The group is already used to this. But let me remind you, it will be intense."
Beatrice's eyes brightened, "I'd take up the challenge."
…
"Where did you go last night?" Lawrence asked when he met Victor the next day.
All five of them were in the office designated for the leads of Echelon Dominion.
Victor looked at him.
"We agreed that you would talk to her and then tell us about it backstage," Lawrence added.
"I was hungry," Victor replied.
Lawrence squinted his eyes before they widened, "You went out to dinner with her? Didn't you say you would just ask her about the play?"
They waited for a good while, and when they could no longer do so, they stepped out and checked, but he was not there, even Beatrice.
Victor raised an eyebrow, 'This person is really fast at picking things up.'
"What happened?" Lawrence was truly confused.
"Well…" Victor shrugged.
-FLASHBACK-
When he approached Beatrice, he noticed that her breathing was even. He could tell that she must have fallen asleep.
Upon getting closer, he saw her bags, and despite the lighting, he could see that she looked pale.
He frowned. 'What has she been doing to end up like this at the beginning of her first year?'
*GROWL*
He blinked and looked down at his stomach.
He tilted his head to the side. 'I have eaten before the play though. I did not even perform today.'
*GROWL*
He slowly turned to the sleeping lady.
*GROWWWWL*
"Pfft—"
He was covering his mouth as his shoulders shook from laughing.
'She's too hungry but too sleepy to even realize that she was hungry,' he thought.
He cleared his throat and composed himself before deciding to wake her up.
"I think the theater is about to close though," he patted her on her arm.
-END OF FLASHBACK-
"Anyway, I asked her to audition for the year-end performance," he instead said without answering Lawrence's question.
Lawrence stared at him blankly.
The other three slowly turned to him as well.
Lawrence turned to the one closest to him, Julian.
"Did we speak of something else that I don't remember yesterday?"
Julian furrowed his brows before shaking his head, "No. We talked about asking her what she observed."
Lawrence then turned to the other two ladies.
The two of them shook their heads.
Lawrence returned his eyes to Victor, "Did you, by chance… meet our doppelgangers?"
Victor rolled his eyes before hitting Lawrence on the top of his head.
"Obviously not," Lawrence answered his own question while rubbing his head.
"You were right, Lawrence. That person is a sleeping monster. It is best to take her in now than to wait."
Lawrence slightly furrowed his brows, and so did the others.
If it was Victor, the head of their acting and performance, saying it, then surely it was the truth.
"That is why I invited her. She will audition together with the rest. In the play, Medea."
Medea is a powerful and intense Greek tragedy about betrayal, revenge, and the devastating consequences of unchecked emotions.
Medea, a sorceress and former princess of Colchis, is married to Jason, the hero who once depended on her magical skills to secure the Golden Fleece.
They have two children together. However, Jason abandons Medea to marry Glauce, the daughter of King Creon, in hopes of advancing his social status.
Betrayed and humiliated, Medea is consumed by grief and rage. When Creon banishes her from Corinth, fearing what she might do, Medea cunningly secures one more day—a fatal mistake for those around her.
In a harrowing plan for revenge, Medea sends Glauce a poisoned robe and crown, causing the young bride to die in agony. Creon, attempting to save his daughter, is also killed by the poison.
But Medea's vengeance doesn't stop there. In a heartbreaking and shocking climax, she kills her own children, believing it to be the ultimate way to hurt Jason.
The play ends with Medea escaping in a chariot sent by the sun god Helios, her grandfather, leaving Jason broken and desolate. Medea shows no regret, only bitter triumph.
