Chapter 15

Despite my protests, Jason insisted on escorting me home ever since the Zane incident. He claimed it was chivalry, but I knew he was wary of Zane. Deep down, I appreciated the sense of security his presence provided.

One day, as we approached my apartment, Jason inquired, "Have you found a companion for tomorrow's Healer's Circle Summit?"

The Summit was a yearly gathering to honor outstanding healers and their achievements in various healing disciplines.

I responded with a light laugh, "Indeed, I have. What about you?"

A peculiar look crossed his face as he asked, "Who's your date?"

"Healer Marcus extended an invitation yesterday," I explained. "Remembering your advice from last week about being more open-minded, I accepted."

His expression darkened slightly. "I see," he murmured.

Puzzled by his reaction, I questioned, "Is everything alright? I thought this was what you suggested?"
