12- Starting Anew - Part 1

Liam considered his options and quickly decided that it was better for him to pretend to be a Warden.

As much as he would love to earn more money by becoming a member of the International Magius Society, it was a risky move to make. Any organization of that size had its own drawbacks, and without proper study, Liam had no way of knowing if he would get screwed or not.

That was why, if he was going to enter it, he needed more information. And to get that more information, Liam needed time.

"Mister Sanders, is my question too difficult for you to answer? If you are under some kind of vow because of your position, then tell me. I will not ask you this question again."

Bianca seemed to have calmed down and become more tolerant of Liam's position once she concluded that Liam was a Warden. Liam never confirmed or denied her words and let her make assumptions based on what she thought.

"I am not going to comment on it. I would also like you to stop your experiments during the middle of the night-"

"The contract never specified that I am not allowed to conduct my experiments. I am also paying you more than enough to allow me to do whatever I want here, right? However, if this much is not enough, I will double my rent."

Now that was an offer Liam could not refuse.

Truth be told, Bianca had already offered him more money than she needed to in order to cover any expenses. And now, here she was, offering even more money to him.

Liam should not be taking advantage of this opportunity, but money was money.

"Fine. I guess I can overlook your situation for as long as it does not affect me. However, the second I find that it is starting to affect me in any way, you will have to put an end to everything. Are we clear on this?"

Liam asked the female, and Bianca had an almost guilty look on her face that said that she was not sure about this.

Despite her initial hesitation, she decided to agree to his deal, and Liam had a couple thousand dollars extra in his bank account.

______

After what happened last night, Liam had given up hope of having a decent sleep due to his worries.

However, reality could not be more different than what he imagined.

Liam's worries were nowhere to be seen as he slept the whole night away like a baby. When he woke up the next morning, he felt far more refreshed than he usually did under these circumstances.

The first thing Liam did after waking up was head outside to check on his house. But just like he had seen last night, his house had not suffered any damage beyond the ones it had before.

Feeling satisfied, Liam was about to head inside when he heard a voice call out to him from the top floor.

He looked up, only to groan in annoyance as Bianca waved at him, still dressed incidentally and almost flashing everyone. Liam diverted his eyes away from her since he did not want to appear like a creep.

Not that Bianca was a bad-looking girl or anything. She was just not Liam's type (if he had one), and she was also too young. Liam knew that the most he could feel about Bianca was a brotherly love…and that was also a big IF.

"Boss Liam, are you up already? I thought for sure that you would sleep more after what you witnessed last night….anyway, you don't feel off or anything, right?"

Bianca leaned against the balcony railing when she asked that question. For a minute, it genuinely looked as if Bianca would fall and injure herself. But the female managed to catch herself at the last second.

With a sheepish laugh, she pulled herself back, and Liam breathed a sigh of relief.

"I am fine, but you won't be if you continue to walk around in those thin clothes. Hurry up and change into something decent."

Liam complained, not unlike an old grandparent did when they saw young kids do something they should not be.

Bianca made an annoyed face as she was scolded but she did pull herself away from danger.

"Tsk, you sound like a grumpy old man, Boss. But I'll do as you asked me to because I respect you."

Finally, Bianca went back inside, and Liam breathed a sigh of relief once he was sure she was gone.

"What did I get myself into? Was I that desperate for money?"

Liam questioned himself as he tried to justify his actions. But even as he did that, he knew himself. If the opportunity arrived again, he would likely make the same choice as he did last night.

"Fucking hell! There is no point in thinking about it anymore. It would be better for me if I focus on what I need to do today."

There was no time for Liam to think about anything else. He needed to head out now and look for a job that he could do to have a stable source of income at his disposal.

After having breakfast and arranging his portfolio, Liam left for his first interview of the day.

His destination was a local tech company established on the outskirts where he was living. It was one of the only locations that had a sizable establishment and payment for Liam to apply.

Luckily, the company had also posted a few job openings, and Liam decided to try his luck.

Even if he was a little overqualified for the post he was applying for and had more than 4 years of experience, he was sure the company would overlook it (or appreciate him for it). But things could not have gone worse than they did.

And it all started with Liam arriving half an hour early to the interview, making people point toward him and talk about him. He could pick out what they said, and unfortunately, none of what they said was positive.
