Chapter 16: Base Situation

"What?"

"You want to kill me that badly?"

"If you don't like me just say so I will willingly go out from this base immediately!"

Vale angrily replied.

He almost died at the hands of those monsters, and they ask him to clear those monsters all out?

Are they insane?

Or are they become mad because of lack of food?

"We don't want you to die that's why will give you the information on how you can get stronger"

The old commander seriously said.

"How can you do that?"

"You can make me stronger but you yourself were weak!"

"Don't kid with me!"

Vale coldly said.

"To tell you the truth!"

"Your not the only person in the world with supernatural ability"

"Even before the world become like this supernatural ability has already appeared"

"In the history of mankind there we're countless information about them and how they grow their abilities"

"Interested?"

"You just need to say yes to our offer"

The righteousness old man suddenly become a scheming and sly.

The sudden change shock Vale but he compose himself.

Only those capable person can become a commander in an army and surely this old man is one of them so he surely has hidden cards up his sleeves.

"Okay!"

"I accept your offer before"

Vale frown his brows.

He really wanted to know about his ability and how to grow them.

"It's not the best time to tell you right now "

The old commander look below.

Vale also look below and saw the little girl gripping at his shirt and looking at him eagerly for a long time.

She really don't know how important their discussion are she only think about the food Vale promised.

"Ohh I forgot HAHAHA"

Vale patted her head and took a pack of biscuits and a cup noodles in one of those carts laying here.

"Also allocate the food here to the people I can't use them all"

Vale straight forwardly.

Currently the people at this camp is starving and Vale will surely have a nightmare and regret it forever if he don't help them even do he has the ability to do so.

He can get more of it after all.

He actually hope to exchange this things for weapons but seeing their pitiful situation he just cannot help himself but just give it to them.

"Your really a good person mhm?"

"Oh I still don't know your name"

The old commander realize and then ask.

"It's Vale Zypher!"

"You can just call me Vale"

"And it's not for free!"

Vale still want to get something out of the situation like a gun just so he can protect himself better.

"HaHaHa"

"Even if you don't ask for something will give you something equal the value"

"How about full set of military grade equipment and appropriate weapon for you to use?"

"Also you can call me uncle Roger"

"..."

Seeing how generous the old commander was Vale felt like an ungrateful bastard who will even steal dentures from old people.

"Well okay!"

After talking to the old commander they part ways as a commander of the base he has a lot to do more important than talking to an ungrateful brat.

But Vale was not left alone as the officer that always next to the commander stay behind.

He was actually the adjutant of the commander and he will guide him towards his room in the base which is considered a luxury considering that people here sleep in tent and any space in the building is important not just a sleeping room for a bastard.

Well he don't care anyways.

He ask the little girl if she like to follow him around as he don't want this pitiful girl be alone in her own.

She said no as she has a lot of friends in the camp that was also alone like her and want to share her food with them she cannot just leave them alone.

Hearing her words Vale heart sank when he heard they was more kids like her alone with no parents to care for.

But it was healed a little bit when he heard that the people on the camp take care of them but it was still sad that they were orphaned.

Kids their age should play around and in a care by their parents.

Vale really has soft spot for innocent kids.

So Vale vowed that he will at least get someone to take care of them before he left this place to search for his mom.

Whose where about where unknown.

He only know is that she was in Davao for a work.

And she cannot be called even before the calamity struck she said she's going into an area where signal is weak or nonexistent.

So Vale still clung on hope that his mother still alive.

Vale and other two appeared in the camp of refugees.

The people around saw them and the little girl that clung to the bags of biscuits and cup noodles.

They were shocked and envious they know how hard to get food this time around.

Even the commander of the base only eat once a day because of food shortage and the military can't go out to take some because of monsters.

So seeing this girl has food in hand they cannot help but swallow their saliva and look at it with desire.

If the soldiers is not around they already took it from her hands.

Vale saw this but didn't say anything.

They were also starving and they have nowhere to look for food.
