Ch 125 : Wedding

The news of the new Kazekage's succession in Sunagakure has finally been announced.

The Fourth Kazekage fell victim to an attack by the rogue ninja Sasori of the Red Sand and perished on the spot.

However, Sasori himself was unable to escape the encirclement of Sunagakure's ninjas and ultimately met his end.

The newly succeeded Fifth Kazekage is Pakura, a renowned figure even within the ninja world.

She is a hero of Sunagakure and the first female leader among the Five Great Shinobi Villages.

This announcement also signifies that Sunagakure has stabilized, and Pakura has fully consolidated her power.

Reaching this point so quickly owes much to the efforts of Konohagakure.

As soon as Konoha received Pakura's letter informing them of Rasa's death, they immediately dispatched a team of ninjas to negotiate with Kirigakure of the Land of Water.

With Konoha's intervention, the war between Kirigakure and Sunagakure came to an end.

Thanks to deliberate publicity efforts, Pakura naturally became the greatest hero of this conflict.

The change of leadership in any of the Five Great Shinobi Villages inevitably impacts the ninja world.

The most immediate effect is that nearby smaller nations, shinobi villages, and mercenary groups will seek to curry favor.

The attitudes of these major villages towards them are critically important.

If they were to offend any of the great villages, even if no military action were taken against them, there are countless ways to make their lives difficult.

In the name of the Kazekage, Pakura sent a letter of goodwill to Konohagakure, expressing her hope for strengthened friendship between the two villages in the future.

Konoha, in turn, sent emissaries with gifts to congratulate her and to express condolences for the passing of the previous Kazekage, Rasa, who had once lent his assistance to Konoha.

Currently, the ninja world is in a state of turmoil, with all Five Great Shinobi Villages experiencing their own upheavals.

None of them emerged unscathed from the Third Shinobi World War, and all require time to recover.

It is expected that the coming years will remain relatively peaceful.

At the moment, Makoto was busy preparing for his wedding, which was just two days away.

The venue and attire were already taken care of, but the elaborate and overly complicated wedding rituals in the world of the Shinobi left him feeling extremely frustrated.

Just listening to others explain them was enough to make his head spin.

As the head of the Hyuga clan, his wedding was set to be even more grand than he had imagined, all meticulously planned by the elders of the clan.

The one most excited about it, however, was Ayari.

She spent her days at home practicing the movements and etiquette for the wedding day, as well as how to wear her wedding attire gracefully and maintain a composed expression when facing the guests.

She even dragged Makoto along to watch her practice.

Recently, she had been keeping a very close eye on him, giving him no opportunity to misbehave.

Even when Makoto went to the bathroom at night, she would threaten him, saying that if he wasn't back within 10 minutes, he'd be in trouble.

Makoto hadn't visited Ayano's room in quite a while, and with Ayari being pregnant, his youthful energy left him feeling rather pent up.

Unable to find other outlets, Makoto poured all his energy into physical training, pushing his body to its limits.

Each session left him completely exhausted, and every day he walked around sore and aching, so much so that the servants started giving him odd looks.

Kushina and Mikoto, on the other hand, often came by the house.

The three women had become close friends, chatting about everything under the sun.

After dinner, Makoto sat on the sofa, watching as Ayano tidied up the dishes.

When she bent over with her back to him, her lifted hips seemed almost deliberately provocative.

Makoto licked his lips and asked Ayari, "Aren't you going to take a bath yet?"

Ayari looked at him expressionlessly and said, "Let's go together. Help me scrub my back."

Makoto: "..."

As they walked into the bathroom together, Ayari suddenly reached out and pinched him.

Makoto sighed helplessly. "What are you doing?"

Ayari glared at him angrily. "I'm going to strangle you, you jerk!"

Makoto pulled her into his arms and said, "Haven't you already got me under your complete control? What more do you want?"

Ayari, however, countered with a question. "What do you want? If you keep messing around like this, aren't you afraid my sister might get pregnant too? What will you do then?"

Makoto shrugged and said, "If she gets pregnant, then she'll have the baby. Perfect—our child will have a companion."

"And my sister?"

"I'll marry her."

"In your dreams! Who do you think you are, wanting three or four wives?" Ayari fumed, opening her mouth as if to bite him.

Makoto blocked her with his hand, chuckling as he asked in return, "What's the alternative? Let your sister spend the rest of her life alone? With her current status, who would dare marry her?"

Ayari was momentarily at a loss for words.

Makoto's argument seemed to make sense, but she still refused to give in. "That doesn't mean it should be you!"

Makoto spread his hands. "It's fine. If you're not in a hurry, neither am I. You can wait until Ayano is in her thirties or forties, old and undesirable, and then pity her."

"You!" Ayari was furious, as if the blame was suddenly shifted onto her.

"Don't get angry—it's bad for the baby," Makoto said with a smirk.

Ayari forcefully broke free from Makoto's embrace, standing there for a while as she tried to steady her breathing.

"Get out!" she said to Makoto.

"Don't want me to help you scrub your back anymore?" Makoto asked.

"Get out now!"Ayari replied, her face full of irritation.

Seeing this, Makoto stepped forward to coax her. "Don't be mad, darling. Let's hurry and finish bathing so we can go to bed early."

Ayari, however, shot him a glare. "Go to bed? Sleep on the couch tonight!"

The couch? Such a good deal?

Makoto froze for a moment, then glanced at Ayari suspiciously.

But Ayari directly shoved him out of the bathroom and locked the door from the inside.

She did that on purpose?

Makoto stared at the tightly closed bathroom door, his mind pondering.

When he returned to the living room, he saw Ayano still bent over, wiping the table.

Walking over, he slapped her on the butt.

Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, "Wash up tonight and wait for me."

Ayano froze briefly but then resumed her work as if nothing had happened.

"Where's Ayari?" she asked.

"Why are you asking so many questions?"

Another slap landed.

...

The next day.

Makoto stepped out of his room feeling refreshed and invigorated.

The clan members were already busy with the wedding preparations.

The wedding attire consisted of a traditional white uchikake and black montsuki, and the venue had a classic, retro style.

Makoto had tried to convince the officiant to simplify the ceremonies as much as possible, but his suggestion was met with resistance from some of the clan elders.

"As the head of the Hyuga clan, how can you not follow proper tradition? This is about the reputation of the Hyuga family!" they argued.

The seating arrangements for the guests were also highly particular, with the invited guests carefully ranked.

Naturally, the Hokage was the most distinguished among them.

The Fourth Hokage and the Third Hokage were both sent invitations.

As for Sarutobi Hiruzen, Makoto didn't particularly care whether he attended or not.

Next in line were the Legendary Sannin.

However, both Tsunade and Jiraiya were no longer in the village.

Neither of them was the type to settle down.

Tsunade had left abruptly without any warning.

As for Jiraiya, he claimed that the shinobi world had stabilized and there was nothing to do in the village.

He decided to write a novel and planned to travel around the world to gather inspiration.

He likely wouldn't return until Minato and Kushina's wedding.

Next in line were individuals of high status and reputation, such as Namikaze Minato and Uchiha Fugaku.

These arrangements were made by the clan members, and Makoto found them reasonable enough.

From Amegakure, Yahiko, upon hearing about Makoto's upcoming wedding, sent a congratulatory gift.

Recently, the Land of Rain and the Land of Fire had developed close ties, even opening a dedicated trade route to promote economic growth between the two nations.

It's worth mentioning that, according to the information Makoto received, the Akatsuki organization had undergone significant changes.

Various factors might have influenced this transformation.

After Yahiko took control of Amegakure and reaped enormous benefits from the previous war, the Akatsuki shifted away from their previous approach of peaceful negotiations and began using military force to intimidate neighboring powers.

That night, Makoto behaved himself and slept quietly in the master bedroom.

He didn't say much, and Ayari simply lay silently in his arms.

One night passed, and the day of their wedding finally arrived.
