Ch 301 : Children's Dreams

Yahiko is a very pure person.

Makoto could understand him, but beyond understanding, there were no other emotions.

In a world like this, there are many such pure individuals—many ninjas in Konoha are like that, dedicating their entire lives to the village.

Their beliefs are untainted by anything else, and they uphold them unwaveringly.

In contrast, Makoto's ideology and worldview seem completely out of place in this world, having lived for decades in his original one.

A staunch egoist, an extremely self-centered person.

When an individual's power and authority far surpass those of the masses, how could they not be self-centered?

He didn't bother to delve into or analyze Yahiko's thoughts.

Once Yahiko agreed to his request, he also allowed him to visit Nagato.

Spare Nagato and Jiraiya, but before that, Nagato's Rinnegan must be left behind.

Makoto no longer wanted to kill them—after all, they posed no threat to him now.

Making Amegakure subordinate to Konoha wasn't just a matter of nominal control; certain transitions would need to be handled gradually.

Nightfall.

Makoto returned home and was informed by Ayari about the two children.

Naruto and Sasuke, looking guilty as if they had done something wrong, came before Makoto and reflected on their actions.

Makoto didn't reprimand them harshly but still gave them a lesson, mainly out of consideration for Ayari.

"How did things go?" Ayari asked.

"The ones who should die are dead, and the ones who should be captured are captured."

Ayari hesitated before asking, "Who died?"

Makoto glanced at her. "Why do you care so much?"

"I was just asking," Ayari murmured, pursing her lips.

"There were only three troublemakers during the day, right? Naruto and Sasuke ran into them, didn't they…"

It was clear that she had deliberately inquired about it from some people in the clan and learned about the incident.

Makoto said calmly, "So what if they were?"

Ayari didn't say anything more and simply said, "Let's get ready to eat."

Makoto went straight to Kushina's bedroom.

She was sitting on the bed, lost in thought, and was startled by Makoto's sudden entrance.

"Is it… time to eat?" she asked, standing up and trying to appear calm.

Makoto asked directly, "Did Naruto tell you who he ran into today?"

"..."

"He's dead."

"..."

To Makoto's surprise, a faint smile slowly appeared on Kushina's face.

"Is that so? If he was a criminal in the village, then it's a good thing he's dead."

Makoto gave her a deep look before saying, "Dinner's ready."

With that, he turned around and walked out of the bedroom.

After Makoto left, Kushina suddenly staggered, though fortunately, she was already sitting on the bed.

She reached out and touched the spot over her heart, then slowly lowered her hand.

Turning her head, she glanced at the photo frame on the bedside table—it held a picture of Naruto's smiling face.

A moment later, she got up and walked out of the room.

At the dinner table.

Ayari suddenly brought up the invitation she had received to attend a gathering of the women in the clan.

Some people wanted to use her to persuade Makoto.

Hearing this, Makoto couldn't help but chuckle. "So, the old geezers in the clan put them up to this, huh?"

Ayano, sitting nearby, added, "Now that you've become the Daimyo, the entire Hyuga clan sees itself as royalty. Of course, they'd take this seriously."

Makoto grinned and teased, "Oh? What about you? Do you want to be Empress?"

Ayano immediately retorted, "Don't stir things up—Ayari is the Empress."

Ayari simply rolled her eyes at that.

She knew all too well what was on her sister's mind.

Ayano added, "But if you really become the Daimyo, then all the children in the family will be princes and princesses."

At that moment, Hinata asked, "What is a princess?"

Neji explained, "The daughter of a Daimyo is called a princess—she is a very noble person."

But Hinata pouted and said, "I don't want to be a princess! I'm Daddy's daughter, not some Daimyo's daughter!"

Her words made everyone chuckle.

Makoto laughed heartily and said to Ayari, "See? Even Hinata doesn't want me to be the Daimyo. Tell those women later that this topic should never be brought up again."

Ayano, however, was a little exasperated, wanting to pull Hinata aside and educate her on how prestigious it was to be a princess.

After all, she truly did like the idea of becoming a Empress—she had always held some anticipation for it.

Officially, Ayari was the only recognized wife of the Hokage.

In reality, though, she wasn't much different from Kushina and the others—just another woman living in the Hokage's household.

Lately, when she gathered with some of the women in the clan, many had been saying that since the Hokage was soon to become the Daimyo, she would be the Empress.

Being a consort was an officially recognized noble status, so it was only natural that Ayano longed for it.

Some people even flattered her, saying she could become the Empress.

Of course, Ayano would never compete with her own sister for such a position, but hearing those words was undeniably satisfying.

However, Makoto didn't seem interested in becoming the Daimyo, which left Ayano feeling somewhat disappointed.

After dinner.

Makoto spent time chatting with his son and daughter.

Neji explained to Hinata that if their father became the Daimyo, she would naturally be a princess—but no matter what, their father would still be their father.

That part wouldn't change.

Hinata only half-understood, but she found the whole thing troublesome and said she didn't want to be a princess.

Meanwhile, Naruto and Sasuke asked about what had happened to the bad guys from earlier that day.

Neji said, "Of course, they were all caught! How could those people possibly be a match for Dad?"

Naruto then asked, "What about that really big bug?"

Makoto chuckled, "It was caught too."

Naruto and Sasuke immediately looked at him with admiration, exclaiming, "Dad is amazing! You can even catch something that big!"

Being worshipped by his own children was far more satisfying to Makoto than the praise of others.

He proudly said, "Of course! Your dad is the strongest person in the world!"

Naruto and Sasuke declared that they would become as powerful as their father in the future and both wanted to be Hokage.

However, the two brothers quickly got into an argument—because neither of them was willing to let the other become Hokage.

Those two little troublemakers fought over everything.

After calming them down, Makoto glanced at Neji and asked, "What about you, Neji? Do you want to be Hokage?"

Neji thought for a moment and answered, "Not really."

"Then what do you want to be?"

Neji's eyes lit up, "I want to be like Itachi-nii!"

Makoto laughed, "Then you'll have to work hard—Itachi is one of the village's strongest ninja."

Neji nodded seriously, "I will!"

Meanwhile, Ayano, who was cleaning up the table, carried the dishes to the kitchen.

As she stood by the sink where Ayari was washing dishes, she casually said, "Neji said again that he doesn't want to be Hokage—he wants to be a Crown Guard like Itachi."

Ayari didn't take it seriously. "Kids don't know what they want. Today they want to be one thing, tomorrow they want to be another."

But Ayano disagreed. "A child's education is important! Neji will definitely become Hokage in the future—you need to guide him properly."

Ayari sighed helplessly. "What Neji wants to do is up to him. Even if he doesn't want to be a ninja and prefers to be a carpenter or a mason, I wouldn't force him. There's no need for us to worry too much."

In the living room.

Makoto turned to Hinata and asked what she wanted to be in the future.

Hinata tilted her little head and thought for a moment.

"I want to be a big sister!"

Naruto and Sasuke immediately burst into laughter, calling her an idiot.

They told her that being a big sister wasn't a real job and that she should have a goal as ambitious as theirs.

This, of course, made Hinata furious.

She bared her teeth and raised her little fists, ready to teach them a lesson.

Makoto had no choice but to scoop her up and gently comfort her.

"Alright, alright, I'll do my best so you can become a big sister."

Hearing this, Ayano, who had just come out of the kitchen, glanced at Neji, then at her own stomach, and fell into deep thought.
