Rinnegan could not be cloned or mass-produced for the time being, but perhaps it could be fused with the Tenseigan using the Gedo Art of Rinne Rebirth.
Makoto had this idea and was quite curious about what would result from such a fusion—whether it would lead to an even higher-level ability.
However, he didn't dare to attempt it rashly.
Since there was only one pair of Rinnegan, Kabuto needed to conduct a more thorough study to see if any other useful findings could be made.
Afterward, Makoto followed his routine of inspecting the progress of the flesh armor.
Its development was proceeding at a similar pace to the technique inscription work at the mechanical science research institute, and both would likely be completed around the same time.
The construction of the control room for the Tower of Solarity was progressing rapidly.
After Makoto had issued his orders, Tohnogawa swiftly renovated the area, making it look brand new.
The radiance of the Tenseigan once again enveloped the entire Konoha Village.
The Barrier Team could only control a small portion of the Tenseigan's power, but even that was enough to instantly eliminate the vast majority of individuals in the ninja world.
During the previous rescue operation, if not for Nagato's Rinnegan, no amount of reinforcements would have been able to withstand the binding light of the Solarity Tower.
Everything returned to normal.
It was as if the previous events had never happened, and Makoto's daily life now included Tsunade.
However, what Makoto found uninteresting was that Tsunade's change was similar to Kushina's—she had become timid and submissive.
After resigning herself to her fate, she seemed to have lost all purpose in life.
Makoto kept her by his side for less than a week before sending her away, telling her to return to her work at the hospital and resume her own life.
Otherwise, she would just be like a walking corpse, and seeing that every day felt inauspicious to Makoto.
Hokage Residence.
Makoto was playing with the children, teaching Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata how to write their names.
"Dad, I finished writing mine!"
"I finished too!"
Naruto and Sasuke eagerly showed off their work, vying to be first.
Makoto looked at the crooked, wobbly handwriting but still praised them nonetheless.
The two children happily took their writing to show off to their mothers.
Meanwhile, Hinata was still struggling to hold the pen properly, feeling frustrated.
Makoto walked behind her, gently holding her hand and guiding her step by step.
In the courtyard…
"Mom! Look at my writing!"
Excitedly, Naruto ran over with his paper and pen to Kushina, who was basking in the sun with Ayari, eager to show off.
Kushina carefully examined it and managed to recognize the characters spelling out "Hyuga Naruto."
"You wrote your own name?"
"Yeah! Dad taught me!"
Saying that, Naruto leaned over the stone table under the pavilion and wrote his name again.
However, this time, it came out even more crooked, making Ayari chuckle.
"Look!" Naruto looked at his mother expectantly.
"Our Naruto is amazing!" Kushina praised him.
"Mom, teach me how to write your name."
"Okay."
Smiling, Kushina took the pen, hesitated for a moment, and then wrote "Hyuga Kushina" in delicate, elegant handwriting.
Naruto furrowed his little brows, carefully imitating every stroke of Kushina's name with great focus, eventually "drawing" the name out.
"Mom, look!"
"You did great, Naruto!" Kushina continued to smile and praise him.
Still full of excitement, Naruto turned to Ayari. "Ayari Mom, teach me how to write your name!"
"Of course!" Ayari chuckled and joined in, not only writing her own name but also writing Makoto's name.
"This one is mine, and this one is your dad's."
"This is Dad's name?" Naruto's eyes lit up with excitement.
"I want to learn to write Dad's name before Sasuke does!"
But this time, he was too impatient.
Hastily scribbling down a few barely recognizable characters on the paper, he quickly dashed back to the living room—probably to show off to his dad and Sasuke.
Watching his retreating figure, Ayari chuckled. "Naruto is so lively. If only Neji were like him."
Kushina replied, "Neji is already so well-behaved. What's wrong with that?"
Ayari sighed, "He only acts that way to win Dad's approval."
Kushina smiled. "Even young children have their own thoughts. As long as they're doing what makes them happy, that's what matters. If Neji feels happy just because his dad pays more attention to him, then there's nothing wrong with that."
Ayari thought about it seriously for a moment, then nodded. "You're right."
Kushina added, "Neji has always carried himself like an older brother. In the future, he'll set a great example for Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata."
Whenever children were mentioned, Kushina always had more to say.
Ayari remarked, "I think when it comes to setting an example, a father's role is even more important."
Hearing this, Kushina glanced toward the living room and asked, "Why? Do you think…the kids' father isn't good enough?"
Ayari also cast a glance at the living room and replied, "He has his good points, but his bad points are just as bad."
There was a deeper meaning behind her words, and Kushina could tell what she meant, so she didn't press further.
Makoto spent the whole afternoon with the children—it was his way of taking a break.
After dinner, he lounged on the sofa, reading a book, when Ayano suddenly leaned in close.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Tonight…" Ayano spoke softly, blinking at him flirtatiously, her expression seductive and alluring.
"Tonight, I'm keeping Mikoto company," Makoto replied calmly.
Ayano immediately looked a bit deflated.
She seemed like she wanted to say something but was cut off when Makoto suggested, "How about I call Mikoto over, and you can talk to her yourself?"
"..." Ayano pouted slightly but, in the end, sensibly backed off.
On her way back to the bedroom, Ayano ran into Ayari.
Ayari asked, "What are you up to this time?"
Ayano didn't hide it.
After a brief hesitation, she whispered, "It's my ovulation period."
Ayari found it amusing. "You don't think the house is chaotic enough already?"
Ayano retorted, "I don't care—I just want a son! You all have sons, but I don't!"
Ayari shrugged. "Even if you want one, it's up to him whether he's willing to give you one. You know full well that whenever it's a risky day, he takes precautions. I don't think your plan will work."
With that, she turned to head back to her own bedroom.
Before entering, she looked back and added, "What's so bad about having a daughter? You know full well who that guy spoils the most right now."
But Ayano remained standing there, frowning in frustration.
After a long moment, she sighed in defeat and returned to her own room.
—
When bedtime approached, Makoto went to Mikoto's room early.
By the time Mikoto finished bathing and came over after putting the child to sleep, she found Makoto lying on the bed, arms folded behind his head, staring at the ceiling in thought.
Dressed in a velvety nightgown, she walked over and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing. Let's sleep."
Makoto let out a long breath, then lifted the blanket and lightly patted the spot beside him.
Seeing this, Mikoto pursed her lips slightly, undid the belt of her nightgown, and let the garment slip to the floor before pressing her body against his.
"Ah—so cold!"
"I just took a bath… Warm me up."
