Chapter 7

After that day, I completely gave up hope.

In the days that followed, I threw myself into work with single-minded focus.

Melody tried to reach out to me several times, but I left her hanging.

However, our social circle was still too small. Before long, she learned about my new job.

One day, as I was reviewing documents in my office, a coworker knocked and said a beautiful woman was looking for me outside.

I knew without guessing who it was.

After so many days of giving her the cold shoulder, I figured she must have come to her senses and was willing to sign the divorce papers.

But to my surprise, she flung herself into my arms as soon as she saw me.

Her body was still soft and warm, but her face was very pale with heavy dark circles under her eyes.

How had she let herself get into such a state?

Still, I didn't believe she had lost sleep over me. There were two toothbrushes at home - she had already rushed to move in with some guy.
