Chapter 3

Evelyn, her eyes glistening with tears, retreated toward her room, burdened by a heavy heart. However, her path intersected with the conversation of two maids, and what she overheard left her utterly stunned. The words exchanged between them unravelled a haunting truth about her own existence. They spoke of how her parents never intended to have her, contemplating abortion and only relented due to the intervention of her grandparents.

As the maids continued, the shocking revelation emerged. When Erica was pregnant with Evelyn, her parents had considered terminating the pregnancy. However, the Jones Family's elders intervened, threatening to cast out Mike and Erica if any harm befell the unborn child. Misguided, they believed that during the pregnancy, love would blossom for the baby. Unbeknownst to the elders, resentment burgeoned within Mike and Erica, blaming Evelyn for the threat of expulsion from the family.

The weight of this revelation shattered Evelyn's world. The realization that she was never meant to exist left her feeling unwanted, even regretful for her own birth. With a heart heavier than before, she sprinted back to her room, her sanctuary now tainted. She lamented not staying with her grandparents, the only ones who had made her feel truly loved. Gripped by the devastating truth, she accepted her fate as the "UNLOVED YOUNG MISS OF THE JONES FAMILY."

While trying to process this harsh reality, Evelyn was abruptly interrupted by her father's furious and commanding voice. Understanding her father needed an outlet for his anger, she stepped out, only to receive an undeserved slap and a warning to keep her distance from the Jones and Smith families, especially Edward, during the upcoming Engagement Party. She was instructed not to cause any trouble, as it would embarrass her father.

Left with no choice but to comply, Evelyn resigned herself to lay low until Amy's wedding. However, even in her efforts to stay unnoticed, she faced unjust scolding and blame for things she hadn't done. The passing of two days only served as a constant reminder that she was deemed nothing more than a regrettable mistake.

That’s it for now…
