Not powerful enough

It results now that the wolf we fought with Dara was a female one and could talk. Why did she not say a word when we fought her? And the most confusing part was that she was defending me and even took an arrow for me.

I hope Dara does get me those drinks she promised me when I get back. All of this was managing to confuse me and keep me guessing what was going to happen next.

"Where did that thing come from?!" Asked the soldier with the spear.

Yes, how did she manage to stay hidden and we did not see her coming? She was big and hard to miss.

"How insolent! Thing?!" She exclaimed, her tone of voice "I will teach you a lesson, crazy cultist!"

She jumps towards the spearman and takes a bite. The soldier manages to raise his weapon, stopping her bite with it. Growling, she tries to yank it to the sides or at least snap it, but the man holds his weapon with a tight grip.

"'Stupid bag of fleas!" Yelled the archer, who quickly shot an arrow at the Wolf, hitting her squarely on the leg.

The wolf then shoved the spearman and looked back at the archer, who was trying to grab another arrow. She jumps right at him, growling and showing her open maw to bite him. Her force was as brutal as I remember it, an imposing beast that is a threat even to those stronger than me. I was sure neither of the soldiers had a chance.

I ran towards Nayleth and started to shake him to wake him up. It was better to let her handle the soldiers while I tried to release the prisoners and allies. I needed his healing spell and buffs, and I still intended to rescue the people of the quest.

"Wake up!" I yelled, shaking him with force.

It did not take too much for him to wake up. Both his ears perked up, regaining consciousness and figuring out our situation. Then he saw the White Wolf behind me, while all I heard were the struggles behind him.

"No time to explain!" I yelled and promptly started to cut his ties.

"Behind you!" I heard the woman goblin yell.

I was not going to let them get me this time. I turned around with my dagger up, but Nayleth managed to stretch his hand and raise a magic barrier in front of us. The soldier of the mace sneaked behind us and attempted to hit me with his weapon, but the spell managed to stop him on the spot.

I did not need to wait to act, I plunged with the dagger at him. My attack passed through Nayleth's barrier without resistance and went directly into the soldier.

[-26]

And I stab once more.

[-30]

And once more.

[-24]

I was hitting lower damages, but something about the dagger made me go faster with it, attacking faster than with the sword I had been using for a while. It was either the dagger allowing me bits's nature and intended use, or the weapon had a bonus to DEX and made me more precise and quick.

"You damn asshole!" The soldier yelled and took a couple of steps back, gaining distance from us.

I helped Nayleth stand up, who was still weak from the beating that got us into this situation. But we needed to keep up with the situation, we could rest later.

"They are coming here, you know?" I said, smiling and aiming my dagger at him. "You are not coming out of this one alive"

I could see still the Wolf fighting the other soldiers while I was facing the mace-wielding one. The amount of questions I had was piling up.

"I don't care! It will be worse if I return empty-handed!" He answered.

The soldier then lunged at us and used his [Smoldering Crush] Skill against us, Nayleth answered by using another buried, but the hit was strong enough to get through it. I jumped back but Nayleth did not manage and got hit for [300] points of damage. A [Burn] message appeared beside the numbers.

Nayleth was forced to stumble backward after taking the hit. But he was still in the fray.

"Damn you!" I yelled at him.

I ran towards him, holding my grip on the dagger's thigh to go and stab him again. Even my capacity to run felt better than normal. So I just attacked.

"[Holy Shield]!" He cast and a shield of energy appeared in front of him.

It deflected my attack without a Check, my dagger bounced on the shield. And then he moved his arm and bashed me with it, making me fall to the ground and taking [91] points of damage. Exactly 70% of my HP.

[HP: 39/130]

"N-no, my future mate!" Yelled the Wolf when she saw me take the hit and decided to rush towards the mace-wielding soldier.

But as she ran, the bow user launched a bolas, a group of metal balls tied with ropes commonly used to hunt animals and capture enemies, and caught her back legs, forcing her to fall to the ground.

"Damn, this thing gave us a scare," said the one with the spear.

Nayleth cast a healing spell on me, recovering the [91] points of damage I just received. I slowly stood up, angry.

But before I could react, the bow user shot an arrow towards Nayleth. He received only [50] points of damage and did not manage to react, but then he didn't move. I saw [Paralyze] appear beside the number. That was an arrow made to paralyze the victim.

"Can we do a scout mission without messing up like this for once?" Said the spear-wielding soldier, right before he stabbed the Wolf with it. She whimpered and then growled at him-

"How much HP ya recon this dog has, hmmm?" Said the one with the bow "I bet the material gonna make us filthy rich!"

They were ignoring me as if they considered me the lowest threat.
