Chapter 100: Siege Battle!

"Siege battle?"

After Hestia revealed the war game decided at the divine council, Blake simply stroked his chin and revealed a meaningful smile.

"This is even better."

"Better?" Hestia said worriedly. "It's a siege battle. The opposing side will certainly deploy a significant number of troops, and Apollo's Familia will be the ones defending the city. Do you really think you can conquer a city defended by the elites of Apollo's Familia?"

Siege battles are typically a last-resort war strategy. To conquer an entire city, one must pay a huge price.

After all, the attacking side needs plenty of siege weapons, such as catapults, siege towers, and ballistae, as well as a plan to break through the gates and capture the city. Meanwhile, the defending side holds a significant advantage with the city walls as a barrier. A simple rain of arrows can cause significant casualties.

In strategy, attacking a city usually requires at least three times the number of soldiers and resources as the defending side to persist long enough to break through.

Although there's no gunpowder or cannons in this world, magic is just as powerful, if not more. The attacking side will face unimaginable magical attacks once they reach the base of the city—each spell could bury them alive.

Therefore, a siege battle would be a daunting challenge for Blake.

This was Hestia and Lili's concern.

"No wonder Hephaestus forged that terrifying magic sword for me, so it's as I thought."

Blake shook his head and laughed lightly. He had already suspected this before; now it only confirmed his thoughts.

In Blake's view, only a large-scale war game like this would require the use of such a magic sword.

Hephaestus' intentions were clear—she wanted to help Blake use the magic sword to break through the thick city walls, and now it was up to Blake's personal skills. It would be a fight to the death—only survival or destruction awaited.

Lili's eyes lit up, and she excitedly said, "Right, the magic sword!"

She had almost forgotten about the magic sword Blake had just received.

"Magic sword?" Hestia looked at Blake, clearly confused.

"Goddess Hestia, actually..." Lili quickly explained when she saw Hestia's confused expression, causing Hephaestus to reveal a joyful look.

"Heh, as expected, Hephaestus really does care for me. As long as we can break through the city walls, I'm sure Blake can defeat them all."

Upon hearing this, Hestia immediately stood up, hands on her hips, her blue eyes shining with relief and gratitude. The majority of her worry vanished.

Although breaking through the city walls would still expose Blake to numerous arrows and magic attacks, the danger was significantly reduced compared to before. She believed Blake could handle it.

"Magic sword..."

Watching Hestia and Lili chat happily, Blake couldn't help but smile.

For this war game, he didn't plan on using the magic sword—it would be a waste. After all, magic swords are one-time use. He had a better solution.

Apollo, you should be feeling lucky it's a siege battle. But a siege battle is exactly the place where Excalibur, the ultimate weapon against cities, can fully display its power.

Since I acquired Excalibur, I haven't used its full power—I've let it gather dust most of the time. This is the perfect opportunity to show the world the might of Excalibur.

Blake's sapphire-colored eyes gleamed with a dangerous light, and he slowly curled the corners of his lips into a smile.

"Hestia, I want to update my status. Maybe this time I can level up to Level 2," he said, looking at Hestia with a bit of anticipation.

"Mm-hmm, let's finish eating and take a bath first," Hestia quickly nodded and replied with a smile.

...

This made Blake roll his eyes internally, wondering what taking a bath had to do with updating his status.

However, he understood Hestia's reasoning. After the bath, Hestia would sit on his back on the bed to update his status, rather than simply doing so on the couch. This was one of Hestia's ways of being affectionate and playful with Blake.

...

After quickly finishing the food Hestia had bought, the three of them took a bath.

An hour later, Blake, Hestia, and Lili gathered together in Hestia's bedroom.

"Heh-heh~"

After telling Blake to lie down, Hestia, now smelling fresh and charming after her bath, jumped onto the bed and expertly sat on Blake's back.

"Alright, I'm starting."

Without delay, Hestia took a needle and pricked her hand, dripping her divine blood onto Blake's back to update his status.

"Blake! Congratulations! Your stats have reached 2000. You've finally filled up the foundation of your vessel and accumulated enough great achievements. You can finally level up!"

Hestia said with delight.

"Finally going to level up? If I couldn't after defeating Bete, a Level 5, and one-shotting Goliath, I'd be really worried," Blake sighed in relief. If he couldn't level up after such feats, the conditions for leveling up would be terrifying.

"Congratulations, Lord Blake!"
