She was the one who understood his potential the most.

"Looks like I was overthinking it. By the way, Hestia, did I level up? I don't feel any different," Blake said with a faint smile, puzzled.

"Not yet. I wanted you to choose your future path first. It's crucial for your future," Hestia shook her head, her expression turning serious, clearly emphasizing the importance of the decision.

Development Abilities

These are abilities that can only be learned during a level-up.

These abilities differ from basic abilities, as they allow for the further development and enhancement of special or specialized skills.

For example, blacksmiths often gain the Development Ability called Forge, which improves the quality of the equipment they create, adding new effects and functionalities.

Similarly, pharmacists who can create various elixirs usually gain a Development Ability called Alchemy, which enhances the efficacy of their potions and allows them to create miraculous restorative elixirs.

What Development Abilities can be learned depends on the actions taken by the individual and the experience they've accumulated.

Blake wasn't a blacksmith or a pharmacist, so he naturally wouldn't gain Forge or Alchemy.

If he hadn't accumulated significant experience, even if he leveled up, he might not gain any Development Abilities. However, if the right kind of experience is acquired, multiple Development Abilities might appear as options.

But when leveling up, only one Development Ability can be chosen.

Hestia hadn't directly leveled Blake up because of this—perhaps there were multiple Development Abilities for him to choose from.

"You've probably guessed it, so I'll just say it directly," Hestia said without hesitation, addressing Blake.

"Currently, there are three Development Abilities you can choose from."

"Three?" Blake asked curiously. "Which ones?"

"The first is Hunter, a Development Ability specifically for fighting monsters. It's extremely difficult to acquire, as it can only be unlocked after defeating a large number of monsters within a short time," Hestia explained.

"This ability enhances the user's stats when facing the same type of monster they've fought before and gained experience from. It's particularly useful for dungeon exploration, and it's highly valued by adventurers who focus on dungeon crawling."

"The second is Mage. This ability can only be learned by those proficient in magic, with a deep mastery of it."

"This ability strengthens magic, expanding its power, range, and efficiency, as well as offering various other enhancements. A person who has this ability is considered a high-level mage."

"Lastly, there's Mystery. There are fewer than five people in all of Orario who possess this Development Ability. It's commonly associated with those of us gods who can bring miracles."

"For example, if a pharmacist possesses this ability, they could potentially create an elixir of immortality. If a blacksmith has it, they could forge a weapon far more powerful than any ordinary magic sword. This ability is almost god-like in nature."

"Children with the Mystery ability are highly sought after. If others find out that you possess it, Blake, they'll definitely try to steal you away. So, Blake, you need to choose wisely."

After this lengthy explanation, Hestia looked at Blake with anticipation in her eyes.

If it were another god, they would have likely chosen the Mystery ability right away, hoping for something exciting. But Hestia respected Blake's choice, which was why she said all this.

Of course, as a god who descended to the lower world out of boredom, Hestia was also drawn to the idea of something fun happening. She was quite eager for Blake to choose Mystery.

"Now, let's get you leveled up!" Hestia said enthusiastically.

With that, she took out a sharp needle, pricked her finger, and let her divine blood drip onto Blake's back while updating his stats.

After leveling up, no matter who it is, the basic stats will reset, starting from the initial level.

However, this doesn't mean that the power gained at Level 1 disappears.

Although the basic stats reset, the power gained at the previous level is not gone—it's preserved as hidden abilities.

Even though it may not be visible in the stats, it still exists.

So, after leveling up, Blake's basic abilities will reset, but the actual enhancement will be even greater than before.

It can generally be understood that after leveling up, the abilities improve by a certain percentage based on the previous level's base abilities.

For example, if Blake's strength at Level 1 is calculated as 100, and leveling up increases it by 50%, then when Blake reaches Level 2, his strength becomes 150.

Thus, resetting the base ability values after leveling up is a normal occurrence.
