Chapter 20 - First Day(3)

-"Wow. Did you see Stella speaking?"

-"Ahh, bro. I think I'm in poverty with her"

-"Come on dude. She's like way out of your league."

-"Exactly dude. Did you forget she's from the Hunt family, one of the six ruling families. Just forget about it and save yourself the pain bro"

After the fervent and rowsing speech made by Stella, the cadets were told to head to their classes.

They had already been assigned their classes via email prior to coming to the academy today.

Hence as they walked all they talked about was Stella, with some delusional enough to think that they actually had a chance with her.

Hearing the talk those idiots were having, I just chuckled as I focused on heading to my class.

Nublar Academy's structure was basically that of a castle like structure with the five skyscrapers surrounding it.

The skyscrapers were basically the class rooms and training facilities.

The buildings were named, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Zeta, and Eta.

The Alpha, Beta and Gamma buildings were classrooms.

While Zeta was for the training facilities and Eta was where the instructor's offices were.

As for the big castle like building in the center, well that was where important events held.

Like, the school assembly, or a meeting for the academy's instructors and all that.

It was also where the cadet council's office was.

Anyway, looking around, I saw other cadets both those of nobility and the commoners walking towards their respective classes.

The class I was assigned to was 1B. Meaning I was going to head towards Alpha, the classroom for first year cadets.

There were about 16 floors in each building. One floor per class. And 20 students per class.

There should be about seven classes altogether for the first years.

And then there was my class. Shit. I was assigned to the main character's class.

Damn. This didn't happen in the novel, so I can already confirm something's changed.

Haaa.

Sighing, I headed towards my classroom.

**************

Huu

I collected my breath as I twisted the doorknob before pushing the door open.

As soon as I did that, a gust of cool, air-conditioned air greeted me, a refreshing contrast to the warmth outside.

Stepping inside, I closed the door behind me and took a moment to survey the classroom.

The room was spacious yet intimate, designed to accommodate comfortably, the 20 cadets that would occupy it.

The walls were a crisp, neutral tone, adorned with a few motivational posters and a large whiteboard at the front, it's surface gleaming under the fluorescent lights.

The ceiling was high, giving the room an airy feel, and the polished floor reflected the light, adding to the overall brightness.

The desks were arranged in descending rows. Each row slightly elevated above the one in front, ensuring that every cadet had a clear view of the instructor.

The desks themselves were sturdy and well maintained, each paired with a chair that looked both functional and comfortable.

The whole interior was neat and spotless, almost as if it was shining.

It seemed some of the students had already made friends among themselves as they were chatting away.

Although some were also just buried in their books.

Some of the cadets glanced up at me upon my entry for a few seconds before focusing back on their tasks.

I ignored all the gazes at me and walked up to an empty seat at the fifth and final row.

So yeah there were five rows and four seats per row.

I then sat down quietly and rest my head on the desk.

Before resting tho, I decided to check my stats.

"AEGIS. Show me my stats". I muttered in a low voice.

[Affirmative]. A robotic voice resounded in my head. It was AEGIS.

AEGIS was an or rather is an Ai. It was the Ai that ran our nano-tech suits. Etherium might be the engine behind the nano-tech suits but AEGIS was the brain.

AEGIS was also basically an acronym for, Advanced Expert Guidance and Intelligence System.

Anyway as soon as AEGIS responded, a system interface appeared in front of my face.

________________________________________________________________________________

Name: Nathaniel Hunt

Race: Human

Age: 16

Abilities: Integration, Angel's Wings

Synchronisation rate: 12%

Hmm. I nodded. Nothing's changed since I last checked it.

Basically after I awakened Nathan's or rather my memories, my synchronisation rate spiked.

On the spot there during the fight, it had raised to around 19% or thereabout. And after the exam when I checked it, it was 12%.

I then closed the interface and was about to close my eyes when I heard a cheerful voice next to my ear.

"Boo!"

I flinched slightly, raising my head to see Natasha standing there, a wide grin plastered across her face.

Her eyes sparkled with mischief, and I could already feel a headache forming.

"Nat". I groaned, rubbing my temples. "Do you have to be so loud all the time?"

Nat was a nickname I often called her from childhood. I saw it in my memories during the exam.

She laughed, a sound that was honestly both infectious and kinda annoying.

"Oh, come on, Nate. You love it," she teased, plopping down in the empty seat next to me without waiting for an invitation.

How rude.

"I don't recall saying that tho", I muttered, thought he corner of my mouth twitched despite myself.

She leaned in closer, her grin widening. "You don't have to say it. I'm your best friend after all. I can see it in your eyes. You're secretely delighted to have me here".

I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help the small smile that played on my lips. "Delighted isn't the word I'd use".

"Admit it Nate. You'd be lost without me," she added nudging me with her elbow.

"Lost in peace and quiet, maybe," I shot back though there was no real bite to my words.

She laughed again, clearly enjoying herself. "You're such a grump Nate. But I know you don't mean it".

I sighed, leaning back in my chair. "Why do you want to sit with me anyway?"

"Because you're my favourite grumpy companion." She replied without missing a beat.

"And because I know that deep down, despite how you deny it, you enjoy my company". She added with a wide smile.

Haaa. This girl. Nathan, I mean I always did have trouble handling her. Although her being in the same class as me and sitting with me does bring me some joy.

Not that I'm ever going to admit that.

"Whatever you say Nat." I said giving in, allowing the small smile to show.

She beamed at me obviously feeling victorious. "That's the spirit! Now let's get ready for class, I promise not to annoy you too much".

"You're kinda late for that." I muttered but she just laughed it off, clearly unfazed.

Haa.

I was about to rest my head back down when the down was swung open and a young boy, most likely the same age as us walked in.

He had a well chiseled body, silver hair, blue eyes. His whole aura screamed of confidence and slight hostility.

I couldn't help but smirk upon sighting the boy as I knew who he was.

He was the adopted son of Colonel Adam Armswell, a future general of the fantasian military as well as the protagonist of this world.

He was Lucas Draken.
