Lucas Draken. The protagonist of the novel Echoes of war.
His parents were fantasians who lost their lives in a skirmish between Terra and Fantasia that occurred 7 years ago.
His hometown which had been near the frontlines was invaded by Terra 7 years ago and destroyed by them.
Lucas' parents fought valiantly to buy Lucas time to escape. He escaped narrowly into one of the border cities in Terra where he ran into Adam who adopted him as his son.
He was then taught by Adam before receiving the implant.
Now you might ask why he wasn't at the entrance exam.
That's simple. Adam gave him one of his recommendation spots.
That was another way students or rather cadets could be enrolled into the academy.
But recommendation spots were hard to acquire. Infact only the generals, the class six and seven soldiers and the heads of the ruling families could give a recommendation spot.
And of course the council members could also give recommendation spots.
The only other ones that could give out recommendation spots was the principal of the academy.
Hence why Adam could enroll Lucas. Also important to note is that each of those individuals I just listed could only use one recommendation per year.
Except the council of course. They were the literal government. They had two recommendation spots.
Anyway back to Lucas. Currently he's a cadet in Nublar Academy but he's not on Terra's side.
Right now he's biding his time patiently to awaken his mana core before revealing his fangs.
Afterall, he never forgot what the Terran soldiers that invaded his hometown did to them.
Did to his people. And so right now, he has a huge grudge against Terra and wants to destroy them.
The classic revenge story. Although he does later change his mind as the story progresses but that's a topic for another day.
I looked at Lucas as he walked towards an empty seat. Following closely behind him was a girl with green hair, green eyes and a slim but attractive figure.
Maria Greensworth. She was one of the heroines alongside Natasha. She was, well, is the best friend of Lucas.
She's probably the only Terran Lucas doesn't possess a genuine hatred for. She's been by Lucas' side since Adam adopted her.
She also most likely got in through a recommendation spot. As for why I say so, it's because I didn't see her at the entrance exam.
And given she's the daughter of a Class six soldier. A Section commander.
The second highest rank before general.
Anyway, Maria sat beside Lucas in the third row.
Deciding to just let them be I rested my head on the desk.
I then looked around the classroom. There were many important characters here. Most were antagonist tho but still.
At the front row was a boy with raven dark hair and blue eyes. Kevin Mavinson. The second son of the Mavinson house.
One of the major antagonist of volume one.
A blonde haired girl with an attractive figure with black eyes. Alicia Stormhaven. The heir of the Stormhaven house.
The Stormhavens were one of the ruling families alongside the Hunts.
And she was also an antagonist. Although her own target was Maria.
For some reason she just never liked Maria. And Maria disliked her cruel antics on the battlefield as well.
Looking around there were also considerable antagonists present.
Haaa. I just sighed.
"What's the matter Nate?" I turned to see Natasha's concerned expression toward me.
Seeing that expression just made me feel even more confused about how to feel about all this.
Since gaining the original Nathan's memories, my emotions had changed.
Not really changed per say but rather more pronounced. I could feel them more now.
That's why looking at that concerned expression on Natasha's face made me feel confused.
She's destined to be one of the main casts. She's going to join Lucas at some point, fall in love with him and turn on Terra for him.
For his sake.
Haaa. And surprisingly, the emotions I feel toward her, rather than anger at the obvious betrayal, was instead, just sorrow.
Sorrow that my best friend was most likely to be my enemy. And sorrow that the girl I-
BAM
The door being kicked open suddenly, snapped me out of my reverie.
Stepping inside the classroom was a middle aged woman with pure black hair, red eyes and an extremely beautiful face.
She strode inside to the front of the room with the confidence of someone who had survived encounters with entire armies and lived to tell the tale.
As she walked, her boots clicked sharply against the floor, with each step echoing like a drumbeat.
When she reached the center, she turned on her heel, and her crimson eyes scanned the room with a mix of intensity and amusement.
"Good morning cadets," she began, her voice smooth but laced with a sharp edge.
"I am Colonel Leslie Patterson. A Class five soldier of the Terran Military. You may call me Colonel, ma'am, or 'oh god, please don't kill me'— it's your choice."
As she said so, she had a slight smirk playing on her face.
Haa. And here is our homeroom instructor. The one who's supposed to guide us. Colonel Leslie Patterson.
The psychopath.
