Thomas left his wife and daughter to head towards his home office, he pulled out a phone book and tried to call the number but the voice of a man answered the call.
"Hello, who is this?"
"That's something I should be asking you, you're the one who called me."
"Hand the phone to Evangeline."
"You have the wrong number sir, I don't know anyone by that name."
And with that the man on the other line hang up.
'She had the nerve to change her number.'
Thomas called his assistant Author, "I need you to find my daughter's number, I don't care what you have to do."
Thomas sat in his office pondering on who he should set up a blind date with for Evangeline. He had a few business partners whose sons may be a good match but it would be hard to control Evangeline if they were to get married.
He looked down at his phone, Author's number still on the screen, a smile stretched across his face.
'Author would be a good fit for her, since he works for me I can easily keep that girl in check.'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eva sat in her office when her personal phone rang, she answered without looking at the number.
"Hello?"
"Is this Ms. Evangeline Beaumont?" a man's voice asked
"And who is asking?"
"My apologies, my name is Author Patterson, my boss asked me to give you a call and ask you to meet him at the Jasmine Tea House at 2."
"And who is your boss Mr. Patterson?"
"You'll know when you arrive." he then hung up.
Eva sat there staring at her phone, laughing disbelief.
'Jasmine Tea House, it's so obvious who's behind this.'
Eva told Megan that she was heading out before leaving the office. She arrived at the tea house at 2:50 p.m., she decided to have lunch before going there, she would rather savour her food.
She was led to one of the private rooms by a female attendant. Thomas looked at Evangeline when she entered the room, she was dressed in a white long sleeved button up blouse and a pair of green high waisted pants with black stilettos carrying a black handbag and her hair loose bouncing with every step she took.
Author sat there looking at the beautiful woman in front of him. Mr. Beaumont had told him about his plan to allow him and Evangeline to get married, an idea he wasn't against. He looked her up and down, scrutinizing her outfit, he didn't like the way she was dressed but that was something that could be corrected eventually.
"I invited you out and you didn't have the slightest decency to arrive early, you made me wait 50 minutes for you, don't let it happen again Evangeline." Thomas chastised her.
"I often heard that delusion comes about in later years but it seems it arrived a little early for you Thomas Beaumont."
This wasn't something he was expecting, she even addressed him by his name, was this the little girl who pined for his attention.
"How dear you!" he yelled standing up point at Eva
"How dear I?" Eva laughed in disbelief, "Thomas it's been 10 years and you still believe that you can control me, this is unbelievable."
Author took this chance to intervene, "Ms. Beaumont, I was the one who called, Mr. Beaumont is your father and he invited you out to lunch."
"Ah, so you're the audacious dog who called me without a shred of courtesy, and when did anyone ask you to speak, how does this involve you?"
"Evangeline, sit down and be quiet. I found out your engagement fell through, since you can't choose a good man for yourself I've decided to step in, this is Author, my assistant. He has worked with me for years and I know him well. You both can get married when you're ready, today is just an introduction for you both."
"Have you lost your mind?"
"What?!"
"So not only are you insane, your hearing has also declined."
Thomas was about to say something when Eva beat him to it.
"I'm not your daughter, you have another child, if you want someone to marry your assistant, I think it's best you look for her, me on the other hand wants nothing to do with this family, we're simply strangers with the same last name. Don't ever contact me again, this is your last warning Thomas."
She turned to walk out when Author chased after her, "Ms. Beaumont, he's your father, you have to show him respect."
Eva stood there looking at the man, "What a loyal dog you are, if I throw you a treat would you go get it?"
The entire exchange between the group was heard by the other guest because the door of the room was left open by Eva, one man in particular found it amusing. He and his guest had finished lunch and were about to leave when the argument ensued.
"What?"
"You're as deaf as your owner." Author stood there lost for words
"You don't have the privilege of speaking with me, so do yourself a favour, tuck your tail between your legs and go back to your owner." she walked forward when he grabbed her arm.
Alexander moved to help her when Eva spun around pulling her arm away from Author kicking him in the groin, then slapping him across the face.
The look on her face was something Thomas has never seen before, even he felt a little afraid of her and so did the other men who witnessed the exchange, Alexander was the only one smiling.
Eva looked at the man in disgusted before glancing at Thomas.
"Tighten the leash on your dog." then she left.
