A Little Closer

Eva could only stared at Alex.

She really wasn't used to anyone reacting like this to anything concerning her.

The conviction behind his words caused her heart to pound uncontrollable in her chest, but it was strangely pleasant.

'He' s odd. '

"Why do you care so much?"

"I care simply because of who you are, I've only known you for a short period of time, but you are an amazing woman Eva and I won't let anyone make you believe otherwise."

She was about to interrupt when he continued.

"Even if you don't believe a single word that comes out of that man's mouth, I'll be that little voice that reassures and solidifies what you know and believe about yourself."

She was about to say something when Alex removed his jacket and covering her with it.

"Get some sleep."

"But-"

"No Eva, sleep. I still have a bone to pick with you so I'll wait until you're rested."

She looked at him in confusion.

"I told you to call me Alex, so imagine my surprise when you called me Mr. Blackthorne." he said glaring playfully at her

Realization dawned on her.

Just as she was about to reply, Alex readjusted the jacket before telling Eva to go to sleep. A small smile took over her face, eventually closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.

------------------------------------------------------------------

The gentle breeze that entered the car tousled Eva's hair. Alex reached over to brush it out of her face.

She tilted her head towards Alex's hand, nuzzling it. The warm feeling was very welcome to her.

Alex drew closer to allow Eva to rest her head on his shoulder.

Elliot stared ahead, his eyes wide.

'Who is that?'

'Who am I?'

'Where am I?'

'Whenever Ms. Beaumont is around, Mr. Blackthorne starts acting different, poor woman doesn't even know the type of man she's entangled with.'

----------------------------------------------------—----------

The car was parked in front of Eva's apartment.

Elliot had exited the car upon arrival, to give the pair some privacy.

He couldn't find it in himself to wake her up. For the past 10 minutes he hasn't shifted or moved an inch, allowing her to continue resting.

Alex felt Eva stirring in her sleep.

"Wake up sleepy head, you're home." he said looking at the woman resting on his shoulder. She slowly opened her eyes looking up at him, blinking several times.

Alex paid close attention to her every in move.

The way she looked at him, caused his heart rate to speed up. Her eyes are the pretty shade of light brown that he has ever seen.

"Thank you for dropping me home Alex." she said, gently rubbing her eye.

He smiled.

"You're welcome, Eva."

She grabbed her bag and was about to exit the car when Alex grabbed her arm to stop her.

"Give me your phone."

'I trust this man way too.' Eva thought as she hand him her phone.

After a while, she heard a buzzing coming from him.

"If you need anything or someone to talk to, give me a call."

She took the phone and stuffed into her handbag.

Alex waited for Eva to enter the building before knocking on the window to get Elliot's attention.

"Let's go."

"Yes sir."

Elliot got into car then drove off.

"Elliot, I want you to find all the information you can about Thomas Beaumont and that assistant of his."

The calmness of his voice frightened Elliot.

Elliot knew what it meant, he knew what his boss was capable of.
