"Well, I thought you were seriously injured and even had your hair shaved off? But you look pretty happy now, don't you?"
Garrison glared at me, his eyes filled with anger.
"It's because of you that Jolene got punished by the company and was forced to take a pay cut and demotion."
"Quint, I've already made myself clear to you. There's no need to act pitiful in front of me. Nothing you do now can win me back."
Jolene's face was cold, her expression impatient.
"Watch your mouths, both of you."
Alec shielded me behind him, afraid their words might hurt me.
"Quint just got out of the hospital today and hasn't fully recovered yet. He can't handle your provocations."
I looked at the two people in front of me with a blank expression, not showing any emotion. Even when I glanced at Jolene, there was no trace of the admiration I once had for her.
Seeing me look her way, Jolene let out a cold laugh.
