"My wife wouldn't go for less," he said smoothly. "That's why I brought you here."
Valentina, however, didn't share his amusement. She shifted uncomfortably, her hands gripping the edges of her scarf. This wasn't just about the price of the clothes—this was about their future. She wanted to protect Raymond in every way possible. He wasn't from any of the top families she had known growing up, and she didn't want him to spend money so carelessly, especially on things that weren't necessary.
They had a future to build, a name to make.
She wanted them to be the ones people in the city talked about—not because of their wealth, but because of what they had accomplished together.
