Chapter 132: Ino and Kurama
Ino, the "bridge," had taken on the task of communication. Asura lightly tapped her forehead, wrapping his message in chakra and sending it into her spiritual body.
What was in the message? She had no idea. It seemed the chakra would only unravel when she encountered Indra.
This was essentially a courier's job. After Asura disappeared, she left the dark space and returned to Naruto's inner world. When she looked back, the staircase leading downward was nowhere to be seen.
Naruto's inner world was truly lively. Maybe next time, she should bring a set of mahjong tiles for them?
The courier work was utterly boring, but if Naruto could charge Kurama rent, then it was only fair for her, as the "bridge," to collect a "toll" for facilitating communication between the brothers.
Asura's chakra, Indra's chakra those who had used it swore by its effectiveness.
Entering Naruto's body was relatively easier. It was like a bustling courtyard where everyone came and went as they pleased. Contacting Indra, however, was much harder. He was a bit tsundere, often erasing her memories on a whim. The worst part was that it was uncontrollable, entirely dependent on his mood.
Ino shook her head, feeling that this task was far from easy.
Delivering the message would depend on fate. Thinking back to earlier events, she followed the water pipes to continue searching for Naruto.
"Naruto? Where are you? If you don't show up, I'm going back."
"I'm really leaving now."
"Not a single ghost in sight. How boring. Release!"
She shouted the word "release" loudly but didn't actually perform the hand seal. Instead, she observed her surroundings.
As it turned out, Kurama wasn't a fool either. He stayed hidden, and Ino's tricks to lure him out didn't work.
"I'll be back," she said, leaving the words hanging in the air. She released the Mind Body Switch Technique and returned to her own body.
Opening her eyes, she saw Choji standing in front of her, holding a kunai.
"What's going on? I heard fighting," Ino asked.
She stood up and looked outside.
Well, outside was indeed a scene of chaos.
The Sound Three had somehow found their way here, and after a brief exchange of words, the two sides had clashed.
Naruto and Ino had been unconscious inside the cave, with Choji protecting them. Sasuke, Shikamaru, and Sakura were holding the line.
Sasuke had beaten Dosu to a pulp, leaving him disoriented and his mouth twisted. Shikamaru, who had been training with Ino for over half a year, was significantly stronger than in the original timeline. He had also thoroughly thrashed the guy with three "death" characters on his body. The only fight still ongoing was between Sakura and the female ninja from the Sound Village.
Sasuke and Shikamaru were both restrained. The two Sound ninjas were covered in wounds, but none of the injuries were fatal.
Ino glanced at Sakura's fight and decided her help wasn't needed.
She turned her attention back to Naruto.
After a moment of thought, she said to Choji, "There might be some changes in my body later. Don't worry, and don't touch me. I can control the process, and the Water Release Technique can heal any external injuries."
Choji didn't understand why she said this, but he nodded solemnly, indicating he understood.
Ino glanced at her status panel. Asura's chakra was indeed crucial. With it, just like when she had taken control of Haku's body, her panel finally displayed the necessary conditions for Wood Release.
Haku's Ice Release required a specific ratio of water and wind chakra. Wood Release was even more complex.
Earth Release plus Water Release equals Wood Release this was a Kekkei Genkai, not a Kekkei Tōta formed by mixing three chakra types. However, before mixing earth and water chakra, one had to first add Yang-natured chakra. It had to be added to both the water and the earth. Strictly speaking, Wood Release was Yang-natured water chakra mixed with Yang-natured earth chakra, in a ratio of four parts water to six parts earth.
The required attributes were Ninjutsu 10, Stamina 10, Yang Release LV5, Water Release LV5, and Earth Release LV5. A total of five maxed-out attributes were needed to unlock Wood Release.
Currently, she only met the Ninjutsu 10 requirement. The other attributes were Stamina 8, Yang Release LV1, Water Release LV4, and Earth Release LV2. She was still far from meeting the necessary conditions.
Ino nodded to Choji and once again used the Mind Body Switch Technique to enter Naruto's body.
This time, she came prepared. As soon as she entered Naruto's inner world, she began shouting.
"I'm not good with words."
Ino started with an opening line, then continued, "I know you're there, Kurama, the Nine-Tails Fox!"
She couldn't mention the name "Kurama" now, so she had to use the term "demon fox."
"You can't stop me from leaving, so you can't stop me from entering either. What's the point of throwing a tantrum and making Naruto unconscious? Can you break free? Or do you feel better by killing Naruto? You know why I'm here, but what about you? Pretending not to be home? Avoiding me?"
Ino pointed at the air and scolded, "What's the use of this? Do you think your actions are mature? I'm telling you, your behavior is childish! Extremely childish!"
The word "childish" seemed to provoke Kurama. A faint, fiery red figure began to materialize on the wall near Ino.
Kurama was still tightly sealed. What appeared now was merely a trace of chakra leaking from the Five Elements Seal and the Four Symbols Seal. To Kurama, this was less than a drop in the ocean.
He transformed into a towering, blood-soaked, clawed figure, as tall as a mountain, trying to intimidate Ino.
Ino secretly formed the "release" hand seal with one hand while pointing at him with the other. "You call this mature? You think this scares me? Do you think I was born yesterday? Come on, hit me if you dare!"
Kurama was furious. Wasn't her "hit me if you dare" just as childish?
Ino heard a sharp, grinding roar in her ears, and in less than a tenth of a second, she realized the Mind Body Switch Technique had completed. She had gained control of Naruto's body.
In that brief moment, she felt the overwhelming, immense chakra within the body. The amount was unimaginable, and unlike human chakra, Kurama's chakra was highly corrosive. The energy was so intense that it burned the skin, muscles, and bones.
Naruto, with his Uzumaki lineage, had a strong natural recovery ability, so the chakra burn was balanced by his healing. Ino, however, didn't have such recovery power.
The drawback of the Mind Body Switch Technique was that any injury to the target would also affect the user. That's why this technique was usually used for support and rarely in combat.
Kurama seemed to know this weakness or had figured it out. He used the connection of the technique to burn Ino's body through Naruto's.
He was filled with satisfaction, eager to see how this sharp-tongued woman would handle it!
