Chapter 133: Sealing the Nine-Tails' Chakra
Ino immediately released the Mind Body Switch Technique and returned to her own body. However, the Nine-Tails didn't care about the minor chakra loss at all. Instead, it desperately squeezed its chakra out of its prison like toothpaste, taking advantage of the last moments of the Mind Body Switch connection to forcefully inject its chakra into Ino's body.
Still so naive! You stupid fox, you have no idea how dirty human tactics can be!
Ino mentally criticized the Nine-Tails before waving her hand at Choji, signaling that he didn't need to worry about her. She quickly returned to her ghost castle.
At this moment, her appearance was somewhat terrifying. Her body was enveloped in red chakra, and the blood beneath her skin was surging wildly. Even though her own chakra was desperately resisting, she couldn't completely avoid the damage caused by the Nine-Tails' chakra. Her entire body was red, and it looked like she was on the verge of being burned.
Karin, who had been spacing out, heard the commotion and rushed out to see what was happening. She caught sight of Ino quickly ascending the stairs to the third floor.
"Are you okay?"
Ino's entire body was red, clearly indicating that she was far from okay.
She simply shook her head, signaling that she was fine.
Originally, she wanted to tell Karin to return to her room, but after some thought, she gestured for Karin to follow her.
Ino led the way to a room deep within the castle. Here, she had drawn nine sealing arrays and stored enough water to fill three swimming pools.
Like a maid serving a noble lady, Karin helped Ino slowly enter the water. Then, she picked up a bath ball and some soap, her face full of anticipation.
Ino glared at her. What are you trying to do?
Karin, flustered, realized she might have misunderstood. She instinctively extended her arm, offering it to Ino to bite and recover from her injuries.
"Should I really bite you?"
"Mhm."
"Aren't you afraid of the pain?"
"I... I'm not afraid of pain."
"Why is your face turning red then?"
Ino ultimately didn't bite. She didn't need such methods to heal her injuries. She always remembered her identity she was a medical ninja!
She instructed Karin to go and activate the sealing arrays.
These arrays required a sealing team, which meant six ninjas working together to activate them. Originally, Ino had planned to do it herself, but now that she had a free helper, she didn't hesitate to make use of her.
As a member of the Uzumaki clan, Karin's chakra wasn't as vast as Naruto's, but it was still more abundant than an average person's. However, her ninjutsu skills were lacking, and she was soon sweating profusely from the effort. Ino, with her lower body submerged in water and her upper body leaning on the edge of the pool, guided her step by step.
The water in the pool quickly evaporated, and the Nine-Tails' chakra, which couldn't be decomposed or transformed, slowly seeped out of her body.
Soon, she replaced the water and moved to the third pool.
By the time all three pools of water were depleted, Karin had finally set up the sealing arrays.
Ino began forming hand seals.
The red, mist-like chakra in the room continuously gathered, eventually taking the shape of a small, foggy fox. It darted around, but Ino firmly controlled the arrays, using their power to corner and trap the chakra. Finally, the remaining Nine-Tails chakra condensed into a basin-sized mass of scorching energy within the sealing array.
Ino didn't possess the Six Paths Sage lineage of the Gold and Silver Brothers, so she had no intention of stuffing the Nine-Tails' chakra into her own body. However, keeping it around certainly wouldn't hurt.
If it weren't for the Nine-Tails' chakra, she wouldn't have gone through all this trouble.
The process of liquefying, separating, and sealing the Nine-Tails' chakra took quite some time. By the time she finished, Naruto had already woken up.
Sakura had also defeated the female ninja from the Sound Village, and her confidence was soaring. The psychological shadow cast by Orochimaru was quickly fading.
It was already late at night, and the two teams, along with Karin, decided to rest in Ino's ghost castle. Choji prepared a meal for everyone, and they all enjoyed it thoroughly.
Only Naruto felt uneasy. He feared nothing in the world, except for ghosts. The eerie atmosphere of the Shukuba Castle made his liver tremble.
The next day, the two teams split up to continue their search for the "Heaven" scroll.
Karin also parted ways with Team 10. After all, she was a ninja from the Grass Village, and it wasn't appropriate for her to keep hanging around with Konoha ninjas.
Ino made her an offer to join her, and Karin agreed to work for her. Later, in front of several Grass Village ninjas, Ino "killed" Karin, resolving the issue of her identity. Ino then instructed her to go to the Waterfall Village and find Shibuki, as she would join her in a few days.
A day later, Team 10 obtained the "Heaven" scroll from a group of genin. Without wasting any time, they immediately headed to the central tower.
On the way, they encountered Gaara's Sand Village trio. Both sides were wary of each other, but no fight broke out, and they each went their separate ways.
"Hmph, if only I had enough chakra, I'd show them what's what next time we meet! Especially that Sand Village strongwoman. Her arrogance really grates on me!" Ino complained.
Shikamaru and Choji both looked at her, confused. Strongwoman? Who was she talking about?
Ino's ability to criticize others was top-notch. "You know, that Temari! Didn't you see her? She swung her fan, and whoosh, three ninjas went flying. She's got some serious strength!"
Shikamaru was dumbfounded, unsure how to respond. Calling a woman a strongwoman? That didn't sound like a compliment at all. Women were truly terrifying.
Ino wasn't exaggerating. In the future, Temari would be able to send even Madara Uchiha flying with a single swing of her fan. Her strength was undoubtedly immense. Even now, Ino estimated that Temari's strength wasn't far behind Choji's.
The second exam lasted five days in total, and only three had passed. They could use the remaining time to rest.
Upon arriving at the central tower, Ino immediately reported Orochimaru's presence.
Whether the Third Hokage knew about his former disciple's arrival or not was his business. As a Konoha ninja, Ino had a duty to report any sightings of a rogue ninja.
Orochimaru's attempt to disguise himself seemed somewhat unnecessary. He barely concealed his identity. Sakura already knew his name, and Ino reported details about his snake transformation, wind techniques, and the Five Elements Seal. After that, it was no longer her concern.
The resting conditions at the central tower weren't as comfortable as in Ino's ghost castle, but she didn't show off. After greeting the proctor for the preliminary matches, Gekko Hayate, she found a place to rest.
Two days later, the genin who had passed the exam began arriving at the central tower for the preliminary matches before the final round of the Chunin Exams.
Sasuke easily defeated Akado Yoroi, and Shino Aburame defeated the injured Sound Village hothead, Zaku. The match order was exactly the same as in the original timeline.
When the Sand Village's Kankuro defeated Konoha's Tenten, the butterfly effect came into play Ino didn't end up facing Sakura.
This time, Sakura's opponent was Hinata.
The two kunoichi started with various probes, followed by clone techniques against the Gentle Fist, and water prison techniques against the Byakugan.
Before passing out, Hinata finally deciphered the chakra flow pattern of the water prison technique. With a single palm strike, she knocked Sakura unconscious. Despite her own dizziness, Hinata remained standing until the referee, Gekko Hayate, declared her the winner. Only then did the young girl collapse.
