Fierce Goblin Mage

A small goblin wearing a brown robe greeted Kael's eyes.

The goblin was holding a wooden staff, and a red gem was embedded at the top of it.

"A goblin mage?"

Instead of despairing, Kael's eyes instead lit up in anticipation.

A new enemy means a new kind of loot will surely drop.

Although it was still a kind of Fierce Goblin, this Fierce Goblin mage was already a new variant.

Kael could totally accept this.

The Fierce Goblin Mage raised its staff and celebrated like a kid as it stared at Kael.

"Hmm? Is it mocking me?"

With its level, it surely has the capacity to mock him.

"It's a ranged damage dealer and is already at Level 7. I need to be careful. Its attack earlier can be evaded, I just need to pay attention."

Kael twirled his sword and widened his stance a little bit. His eyes stared at the Fierce Goblin Mage, not intending to miss even a single bit of it.

Seeing his actions, the Fierce Goblin Mage stopped with its playful antics and stared at Kael with its head tilted sideways, seemingly confused.

Kael was extremely focused.

This was the first time that he faced such a monster, and it was a higher level than him, so he must be cautious.

According to Vivian, Mages also deal a lot of damage, so he definitely would not want to get hit by any of its attacks.

The earlier explosion was a testament to the terrifying damage it could do.

Shrieeeeek!

The Fierce Goblin Mage released their signature cry. This one, though, was higher-pitched and longer than usual.

It waved its staff in front of its chest and pointed it toward Kael.

Instantly, the tip of the staff lit up with an orange light. The next moment, a ball of fire the size of a fist appeared, swirling with searing momentum.

Seeing the ball of fire form at the tip of the staff, Kael did not panic and focused his gaze toward it.

Suddenly, the Fierce Goblin Mage jerked its staff toward his direction.

At that instant, Kael's eyes lit up.

Swoosh!

His figure moved forward with great speed.

The fireball was released from the Fierce Goblin Mage's staff and flew toward him.

'Manageable,' Kael muttered upon seeing the fireball's speed.

In fact, he had already known this earlier when he managed to evade its first fireball attack.

He just did not know how the Fierce Goblin Mage would attack him, so he decided to wait.

After taking three steps forward, Kael immediately took a large step to the side. After doing so, he continued toward the Fierce Goblin Mage, his Ordinary Sword ready to split it apart.

Shriek?

The Fierce Goblin Mage was startled upon seeing his actions.

It hurriedly cast another fireball and hurtled it toward Kael.

And just in time, the previous fireball landed on the spot where Kael was earlier and exploded with a bang.

Kael smoothly evaded the second one while closing the distance between him and the goblin.

A smile slowly crept to his face after he arrived just four meters away from the Fierce Goblin Mage.

Another fireball was hurled toward him. At such a close distance, it arrived quickly in front of Kael, threatening to obliterate him into pieces.

However, Kael was already prepared, so even before the fireball was launched, he had already stepped to the side, allowing the third fireball to pass by his waist just in time.

Boom!

Another fireball exploded on the ground behind him.

However, Kael did not let the sound of the explosion distract him from his real target.

First step!

Second!

Third!

The Fierce Goblin Mage's eyes were full of fear as it stared at Kael now right in front of it.

"Got you!"

Swiish!

Erkk–

Its head was pierced by the Ordinary Sword.

Kael's current strength was no longer the same as earlier. The skull of the Fierce Goblin Mage did not even pose a lot of resistance before it was pierced through.

As the Fierce Goblin Mage exploded into items that were stored away inside his inventory, Kael suddenly heard a cracking sound.

"Hmm?"

Kael stared at his Ordinary Sword.

The previous sharp tip now has a crack on it. The sharp edges of the sword also bore some nicks.

"Do weapons break after some use here in New Infinite? How realistic," Kael murmured to himself.

Due to limited time, Vivian only explained to him some general knowledge about the game. She did not go into the details and mostly told him some good things that piqued his curiosity.

"This kind of rule must be part of the reason why crafted items are valuable in New Infinite."

With this, weapons or gears could be considered as consumables.

"Just like the real world, huh."

It also did not help that there was no durability count. It seems that the player must be mindful about their gear's durability, else, it might break during a crucial battle, costing them their life.

Storing the Ordinary Sword inside his inventory, Kael looked at the notifications that popped up after he killed the Fierce Goblin Mage.

Kael nodded his head in happiness seeing new kinds of items that appeared on the list. He opened his inventory and looked at the items to reveal their details and information.

Grade: Uncommon

Remark: Obtained from a Fierce Goblin with a staff. This can be made into a whole magic staff? Do they release fireballs?>

Grade: Rare

Remark: Obtained from a Fierce Goblin with a staff. They come in pairs with the staff? It increases casting speed?>

Two new items with one of them being a Rare grade.

The experience points he received were also plentiful. That fight was indeed worth the trouble.

Kael sorted out his inventory and totaled all the number of items he had.
