Chapter 28: The Safe House
Ethan's eyes scanned the motel parking lot, his mind racing with caution. They had been driving for hours, and he was starting to feel like they were safe.
Sarah nodded, her eyes locked on the motel room door. "This looks okay," she said.
Ethan nodded, his hand on the door handle. "Stay close," he whispered.
They stepped out of the SUV, scanning the parking lot for any signs of danger. The coast seemed clear, and they made their way to the motel room door.
Ethan swiped the key card, and the door swung open. They stepped inside, locking the door behind them.
The room was small, but it looked clean. Ethan's eyes scanned the space, his mind racing with the need to secure their surroundings.
Sarah collapsed onto the bed, exhaustion etched on her face. "I'm so glad we're safe," she said.
Ethan nodded, his eyes locked on the door. "We're not safe yet," he said. "We need to keep moving."
But for now, they could rest. They could regroup and plan their next move.
As Ethan stood watch, his eyes locked on the door, he couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. That The Syndicate was closing in.
To be continued.
