Let's go, Let's go!!

Zhanna didn't know when she slept off but when she woke up she found herself on a bed. Surprisingly she was in a good mood as she felt that the day was going to be a great one. She came down from the bed and found her slippers waiting there for her "Just like in my hometown" She smiled and said. It had been a long time since she was treated as royalty. In Volkorod, it was only around Boris that she was shown some respect. She really tried to be friendly with the maids but they all just hated her for some reason that she was not aware of. She hated them too since they set her former hand maid (Vika) up and killed her for allegedly stealing Lady Tatianka's expensive handbag. Vika was like a sister to her, She was her handmaid since she can remember. Vika was her senior by 2 years and was her closest companion. She died assumed as a thief and although Zhanna didn't take it into consideration at first, She was going to avenge her. As Zhanna alighted the bed she realised that she was in another room. "Annette(her current handmaid) is so brilliant, she knew that I and Boris weren't on good terms so she carried me to another room" Zhanna said to herself.

"Annette!" Zhanna called out as she walked to the mirror. For some unknown reason she felt familiar with the place. It was as she looked around that she realized that the room looked very much like her old room back in koldunova (her hometown), She then glanced at the mirror and stared at herself in shock. She looked younger and her hair that she had cut in order to please Boris had grown longer. Frightened, she screamed her hardest and called for Annette. The door finally clicked open after a few moments. "Annette thank goodness you're here, I think something is wrong with me..." Zhanna ranted on but a voice stopped her.

" If the princess permits me to speak " The voice said and it instantly reminded her of Vika. Vika always took permission before speaking and had the exact voice. Zhanna looked through the mirror and saw... "Vika!!" Zhanna screamed and turned around to see Vika. Overwhelmed by emotions she rushed and hugged her. "I missed you so much....wait! Weren't you dead? I saw the guards kill you with my own eyes" Zhanna said immediately and released Vika from the hug. Vika looked confused and quickly excused herself. Zhanna immediately started to put the pieces together. She was in a room that looked like her room back in her hometown and her hair grew back to it's original length overnight, she also saw Vika alive.... this could only mean one thing. "Did I travel back in time?" She asked herself. "But how?" She continued to ask herself. It was then that everything clicked and Zhanna declared "Who cares how I came here, the heavens have heard my vows and gave me a second chance..I won't fail you gods!".

One great mistake that Zhanna made in her life was marrying Boris and now she had been given another chance, she'll make the best of it. "Watch out enemies cause you're about to pay!" Zhanna declared loudly.

The door opened and some people walked in, Zhanna immediately frowned on sighting her stepmother among them. She finally knew her stepmother was a witch, no wonder her father was madly in love with her that he let her rule the kingdom in his stead. "You are right dumb maid she does seem so absurd" Queen Darya (Zhanna's stepmother) said. "We can't have the princess looking sickly for her wedding in two days" Queen Darya continued while she glanced at Zhanna who shot death glares at her for some unknown reason. Queen Darya gave the physician a nod and exited the room leaving only Zhanna, the Physician and Vika in the room. The Physician got to his work instantly. "My princess if you would just...."

"I'm alright, don't bother. Leave us"

"But the Queen..."

"Should I call the guards on you for disobeying the princess' order?"

That threat made the Physician quickly scramble to his feet and leave. He had heard how people died gruesomely for disobeying a member of the royal family and although the rule never applied to Zhanna, she used it as an advantage on others,

"Vika I've got something to tell you. It's the reason why i was behaving weirdly earlier. It's going to be a long story so take a seat" Zhanna said then she started explaining all about the announcement of the coronation ceremony and how she transmigrated into the past or in her own words she was given a second chance.

Of course Vika didn't believe a thing but she dared not to counter the words of her master having learnt a thing or two from maids used as an example by the queen who sentenced them to death for either speaking without permission or adding opinions to the Queen's sayings. "So we've got to run away from this castle today. If I can remember very well, the gates would be shut by tomorrow and only villagers coming into the land will be allowed to move, there would be no going outside the land".

"My Princess please permit me to speak (speak!). Where are we going to run to and how sure are you that this your husband you have not seen is not a good person. You said that the marriage would be a blessed one and you felt it in your gut so why the sudden change of mind? all because of a dream?" Vika spoke her mind instantly.

"It was not a dream Vika, we've got to go now. Hurry, once we leave this kingdom I'll explain everything again. Go and get a maid's uniform for me alongside some make up, I've got a plan" Zhanna said and pushed Vika out of the room. Vika left in a state of turmoil as she hurried to fulfil her mistress orders. If there was one thing she was sure about was that the princess would never harm her but she couldn't put much trust in her as she valued her mother's warning 'Trust no one'

***************************

Zhanna and Vika had successfully manage to scale through the first and second set of guards standing at the gates in the castle. "Just the main gate and we are free!" Zhanna whispered. They had almost reached when the chief maid walked into the gate. "Vika where are you headed to and who is this new maid?" The chief maid asked. Vika was already sweating bonkers so Zhanna butted in on her behalf. "The Princess sent her on an errand to get a specialized tea for her headache, she requested not to be disturbed and I am Vernice, a cousin of Vika who wishes to work here in the future, I even got my uniform sewed....see?" Zhanna lied without batting an eye while Vika who found it very hard to lie was sweating uncontrollably. "Vika is that true?" The chief maid asked and Vika nodded. The Chief maid smiled at them and started to walk away, she had gone a distance when she remembered that the princess would never send Vika out of the castle to get anything. On instinct, she checked the princess's room, got some guards to break it down after no response and found out that the princess was not there. "(*gasps*) The princess is missing!!!!" The Chief maid screamed in horror as she remembered her earlier discussion with Vika who acted suspiciously alongside that her cousin, Vernice. They must have done something to the princess, "Find them!" The Chief maid ordered.

Meanwhile the suspects had gone so far that they were at the stables and were creating a distraction in order to sneak into a departing carriage. Normally, Vika wouldn't be so desperate but staying in Koldunova spelled death for her. They had just managed to finally enter a carriage when an order was given that the Princess and her maid was missing and that no carriage should move. Luckily for them the carriage driver had a mind of his own and drove the carriage speedily hoping to leave Koldunova before the kingdom's gate would be shut finally. They escaped alright but after leaving the gates the carriage began to slow down and eventually stopped. Zhanna and Vika peeped through an opening and saw that the driver and some guards were arguing, through instinct one of the guards eyes locked with that of Zhanna who immediately shrieked as Vika began to look for a place to escape. "Who rides within this carriage?" The guard who locked eye with Zhanna asked. "No-one" The Driver immediately responded as he was certain that he had no passenger in the carriage. "Open the boot" The guard instructed and the Driver frowned, he had banned drugs in his carriage and could be sentenced to life imprisonment if found in his carriage, he couldn't just open it for them.
