Chapter 4

Thanks to this, my beatings finally came to a halt.

Melody whimpered coquettishly, "Boo-hoo, honey, you're my husband and mine alone. I won't let you say you're that bitch's husband anymore."

Kellan cooed softly, "Alright, alright, darling. Everything you say is right. You're my one and only darling."

My father-in-law and mother-in-law's expressions remained neutral, seemingly well aware of Kellan and Melody's affair.

My hair was disheveled, and my clothes were stained with splatters of blood.

Especially my forehead, which was still bleeding.

My father-in-law and mother-in-law only observed for a moment before realizing their son was responsible for all of this.

They weren't ignorant of the law either, knowing that if I reported this, Kellan would certainly go to jail.

Perhaps sensing their good days were about to arrive, my father-in-law pondered for a moment before surprisingly allowing me to make demands: "Vivienne, I know our family has wronged you."

"However, of the three unfilial acts, not having an heir is the worst. You've been married into our family for so many years without bearing a child. It's only natural for Kellan to divorce you.His actions were wrong, but let's handle this differently. If you agree not to involve the police, you can make a request. We'll do our best to fulfill whatever you ask, within our means."

I pondered for a moment, then said:

"Alright, then give me your house."

In the years since I married into this family, I've spent every day caring not only for his grandmother but for this entire household.

I'm expected to do everything, though I'm not lacking for money.

Kellan's family is of modest means, and their only valuable asset is this house.

I'm eager to see Kellan's expression when he discovers that Melody is a fraud and that the family's sole property is gone.

Besides, while my injuries hurt now, they're only superficial.

Even if I reported it to the police, Kellan would be out in a year or so.

I want to cut off his escape route.

Sure enough, as soon as I mentioned the house,

Everyone's expressions grew serious.

Melody, in particular, had the strongest reaction: "No way."

Her outburst immediately drew everyone's attention.

I coughed lightly and said, "Why not? You're the Thornton family's only daughter now, living in a multi-million dollar mansion and driving luxury cars worth millions. Do you really care about this little old house?""Was she saying that you're not the heiress of Thornton Corporation?"

Melody's face flashed with guilt. "It's not that, it's just my family situation is a bit complicated right now..."

I cut her off. "You're the Thornton Corporation heiress. This house is worth a hundred grand tops - that wouldn't even buy one of your handbags. Or are you willing to let your baby's father go to jail over this dump?"

After I said this, even Kellan couldn't help but size her up.

Melody had no choice but to say, "Fine, I'll give it up. For Kellan's sake, I'll do anything."

Kellan thought for a moment, perhaps realizing he was about to become a father with connections.

He surprisingly agreed to my demand.

I smiled. I propped myself up and limped over to grab some paper and a pen to draft an agreement.

Then I handed it to them to sign.

Kellan took the agreement. "Alright, from now on, this house belongs to you."

"But I want to add one more condition. Seven days from now, you must come with me to the courthouse and file for divorce. And after that, you're not allowed to show your face to me or my entire family ever again. Especially Melody's family."

No problem. I agreed to everything.Kellan signed it and handed it to me swiftly and cleanly.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.
