After opening her arms, Lanaya lunged towards me for an embrace.
I instinctively dodged, causing her to stumble and almost fall.
Her face instantly flushed crimson.
"Donavan, what's wrong with you?"
"Don't you recognize me? I'm Lanaya."
Of course I knew she was Lanaya, but she was exactly who I was avoiding.
Without saying much, I mimicked her old posture, crossing my arms over my chest.
I gave Lanaya a scrutinizing look, up and down.
Just as her expression was about to crack, I spoke up.
"Men and women should keep their distance."
That one sentence left Lanaya with tears in her eyes.
I used to think that when she cried, my heart would ache, feeling uncomfortable all over.
So I didn't want to see her cry and would immediately try to comfort her.
But for some reason, after spending time with that group of bikers, I started to feel differently.
"What a drama queen!"
Hearing me say this, Lanaya's eyes widened in shock.
As if she'd seen a ghost.
