Amused

Nadia

Was I excited that I'm gonna start my senior year at a new school? Nope. But was I super excited when I realised that I'm not gonna be alone? Yup.

Courtesy to my parents still worrying about me having trouble finding my first class, the principal had to escort me all the way to my class. How embarrassing for me. I'm not a kid, y'know.

I was told that I was gonna be in the same class as him, and so I searched for those dark brown eyes among the other students. There! I found him. Blake Franklin in the flesh.

Our eyes met, and man was I glad to set my eyes on a familiar face out of all these new people. I breathed a sigh of relief, which I know he noticed from how he couldn't stop staring at me as I introduced myself to the whole class.

I made myself comfortable on my new desk. How lucky of me to have him as my deskmate. It took me by surprise just how many people flocked around Blake and I, asking me so many questions at once. I answered some of them, considering all the commotion that was going on.

Fortunately for me, I'm assuming the class president had them return to their desks as the first class was starting soon. Throughout Mr. Hingeman's lesson, I couldn't help but steal glances at Blake now and again and likewise.

The bell chimed, signalling lunch break. Finally. I was already tired after those three morning lessons.

"So, you finally back, huh?"

"Yeah. It doesn't feel real."

"Just give it time." He squeezed my hand in reassurance.

"Okay."

"I'm starving. Let's go eat."

"I'll join you in a bit."

"You sure you won't get lost?"

"I'll be fine, Blakey."

I really needed to use the washroom. After handling my business, I asked around for directions to the cafeteria, and sure enough, I made it. Without getting lost.

I collected my lunch plate with the food I was served by the school chefs and looked around for him. Blakey must have noticed that I was looking for him because he waved at me, beckoning me to join him and a couple of his friends.

I walked over to their table, and coincidentally, there was an empty seat right next to Blakey's.

"Guys, this is Nadia. Be nice to her."

"Come on, man. We don't bite." Blakey rolled his eyes.

"This is Roman." He pointed at the guy who just spoke a minute ago. "He's as cheeky as he can get."

"Hey, beautiful." He has a beautiful smile.

"Thank you." Oops! Did I say that out loud?

Blakey introduced me to the two other guys.

"This is Carlton."

"I've heard a lot about you."

"All good things, I hope?" I asked.

"Of course." I'm actually relieved hearing that.

"This is Miles."

"Hey."

"Hi." He's the quiet kid.

"Don't mind him. He's a warm teddy bear once you get to know him."

"What about us?"

"I was gonna introduce you before you interrupted me."

"My name's Zoey."

"Faye."

"Lexi."

"Nice to meet you guys." They're all so freaking gorgeous.

"Aww, thank you, baby girl. "

"Did I say that out loud?" I'm so embarrassed.

"You're freaking gorgeous, too." The three beauties said in unison. I feel so giddy receiving compliments from them.

"Are you blushing right now?" Blakey teased me.

"No!" Everyone joined in, laughing. This feels nice, having friends to laugh and have fun with.
