Blake
"Hey, man. You good? You've been sighing since we got here."
"I'm fine."
I sighed as I joined Miles on the couch. "No, you're not."
"She's not answering my calls or texts."
"That sucks."
"Yeah."
"Maybe she just needs time to process all this commotion. Give her some time, she'll come around."
"I hope so."
The doorbell rang. "That must be them."
I opened the door to see all my friends. We decided to get together today for some games or whatever, in order to cheer Miles up.
The others made their way inside as I approached her. "Hey, you."
She hugged me back. "Hey."
"Missed me?"
"Mmh." She pretended to be thinking about it.
"Come on."
"You saw me on Friday."
"Yeah, and today's what? Sunday. That's a day of not seeing you."
"Okay, fine. I missed you too."
"I didn't say I missed you, though."
"You didn't have to." She smirked, entering the house.
I closed the front door, joining my friends. "So, what are we going to do first?"
"How about games in the swimming pool?"
Lexi suggested.
"That sounds fun." Roman said.
"I'll pass." Miles said.
"Come on, dude. It'll be fun, and it'll help get your mind off of things." I tried convincing him.
Miles sighed. "I don't feel like it. Thanks, guys, but I'm good."
"Will you still say no if I can manage to bring Ruby here?" Nadia asked, amused to see Miles perking up.
Miles scoffed after thinking about it. "I don't believe that."
"You wanna bet on it?"
"Sure."
"Okay. If I manage to get her here, you'll have to mmm..." She looked at me for help.
I chuckled. "He has to sing for you."
"Yeah, that."
Miles rolled his eyes. "and if you lose?"
"I won't. So, get ready to sing for us." She confidently said.
Nadia fished out her phone and dialled Ruby's number. All of a sudden, we saw her sniffling, and a tear fell off her cheek. We were all surprised.
"Hmm? I'm not okay."
"They made fun of me!" She wailed as more tears fell.
"Ruby, am I ugly and disgusting and..."
"I don't think I can do this anymore. Everyone online is making fun of me!"
"This is too hard. I quit! I hate modelling."
"Really? I'm actually at Blake's house."
"Okay."
The call ended. She wiped away her fake tears. My friends and I were lost for words.
"Babes, what the heck?" Faye said.
"You're one hell of an actress." Roman said.
"I wasn't expecting you to full-on cry." Zoey added.
"Right?" Carlton said.
"You're singing no matter what, Miles. I won." Nadia proudly told Miles.
"You only win once she gets here." Miles replied.
Nadia scoffed. "Whatever."
"That seemed too real to just be an act." I said.
"Of course, I was acting Blakey."
"So, no one is making fun of you online?"
"Mmm, nothing I can't handle." She said, nonchalant.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"It's not that big of a deal. Besides, I don't need to pay head to them."
"But..."
"I'm fine. I promise."
"You sure?" Lexi asked.
"Yes, guys. I'm fine." My friends and I all exchanged knowing looks, deciding to not pry any further.
The next few minutes were spent on playing card games as we waited for Ruby to come.
Fortunately, we didn't have to wait too long because the doorbell rang. Nadia rushed to open the door for her. The two hugged at the entrance.
"You okay?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Come in." Nadia reassured her.
"What the?" She sighed. "Did you just trick me into coming here?"
"Kinda?"
"Nadia."
"We're just worried about you and Miles. That's why."
"You did this knowing too well I can't be mad at you."
"I know." She happily smiled.
"We'll give you two privacy. Come find us at the pool once you're done." I said, directing my friends to the swimming pool.
"You think they'll work things out?" Nadia asked, joining me in the pool after changing into her bathing suit.
"I hope so." I reassured her.
