Chapter 15: Monsters Lurk in the Shadows of the Better Place

Nowhere to hide, the spiders kept hold of Sandra and The Ghost Chaser in their grasp. Heading farther into the forest of the unknown. Several evil spider creatures slug webbing at the tree branches. And leaped from tree to tree in search of a safe gathering.

They made chippering sounds excitedly amongst themselves. A couple of the baby spiders were fighting over who was to keep Sanrda for themselves. Then, a big mama tarantula slung her webbing at the young spider offsprings and they disappeared in the dark forest.

Crawling along the path in the middle of the dark forest, the spiders got confused when they came to a dead end. Suddenly, a giant reptilian stepped on a bunch of groupie spiders out from the trees in the darkness of the forest.

Growling, the green, scaly reptile man stepped out from behind the trees. There was nothing stopping the reptile lizard boy from snaking the crushed spiders at his huge scaly feet! Guts and spider blood flew out of his mouth, as the lizard boy continued munching on a handful of oversized giant spiders.

Trying to squirm free of its grasp, the large lizard boy started laughing. He knew he wasn't afraid of poisonous spiders with a bad attitude. He stopped and noticed they were holding a couple of cocoons, and fighting over who gets to keep them for themselves.

Taking drastic action, the green lizard boy jumped out from the trees in the forest, and squashed the two spiders tackling each other, who were trying to keep their food source for themselves. The green lizard boy grabbed hold of the two cocoons where Sandra and The Ghost Chaser were struggling to free themselves.

Glaring angrily at the pack of monster spiders surrounding the lizard boy, he growled at them, and they all quickly scattered away into the darkness of the forest. Turning to the two cocoons beside him, the lizard boy used his strength and ripped open the cocoon webbing Sandra and The Ghost Chaser were caught inside of.

After getting Sandra unwrapped, she took one look at the lizard boy, her eyes bugged out of her socks and she screamed in terror! This got the lizard boy on his nerves. He put a hand over Sandra's mouth to silence her.

"Everything's going to be okay," he said, his voice sounding low and robust. "I know I'm scary looking. But I'm really not a bad guy. I just want to make peace with those who need to have a little extra good luck with finding real monster friends, like me," he said, trying to make a promise.

Helping Sandra and The Ghost Chaser out of their cocoon webbing, the lizard boy, suddenly looked innocent. In the moonlight, Sandra could tell he would not be able to make friends easily with just anybody. He was taller than both Sandra and The Ghost Chaser. He looked cool. With green scales and claws that looked sharp enough to slice open somebody's throat.

Sandra didn't know if she trusted a monster to be friends with. Or why she thought it would be a good idea to get a close relationship with a monster. What choice did Sandra have, if she refused to let a monster want to get on her good side.

Usually monsters only have in mind to gobble you up to pieces until there is nothing left of you. Sandra took a step back from the lizard boy and trembled beside The Ghost Chaser for protection.

"I'm not going to hurt you, young miss," the lizard boy said, politely. He seemed honest and kind. But still, Sandra didn't want to be around a monster with dangerous claws and teeth, used like a weapon.

"What do you want from me?" Sandra asked, nervously. She kept staring at his eyes who seemed to stare back at her with a mesmerizing glance. Like he was trying to hypnotize Sandra. It wasn't going to work. Because when storm clouds in the sky covered the moon, Sandra quickly turned away from him.

Before the friendly lizard boy had time to respond, there was a wild animal barking, like a stray dog, howling somewhere in the forest. They gasped, and heard a couple of men talking excitedly amongst themselves. They were getting closer to them. The barking animal was getting louder.

"Hide! Now!" The lizard boy demanded, urgently. Using his strength the lizard boy quickly pushed Sandra and The Ghost Chaser through some trees, to keep hidden from the hunters. Sandra couldn't stop breathing heavily. She feared one of the men coming after them might have a gun with them.

Suddenly, peeking through the leaves in the bushes surrounding the trees in the forest, Sandra gasped! There was a hound dog sniffing the muddy ground with his wet nose at her feet. The hound dog got excited. And started digging with his paws at the ground, furiously.

One of the hunters nearby caught the brown hound dog, digging by some bushes. He could sniff out where next to where Sandra, The Ghost Chaser and the lizard boy were hiding. It made the fierce hound dog excited.

"They can't be far behind," Sandra overheard a man say to his partner. Sandra peered through the bushes and tried to get the dog's attention to back off them. But it kept sniffing and pawing at the dirt in front of him.

Calling off the hound dog, the two male hunters walked over to where their guard dog was getting excited about something. Putting his rifle gun aside, one of the hunters cautiously started to inspect what was their hound dog digging up.

The hunter continued examining the ground where his hound dog was exploring. Gasping, he told his partner to hurry over to the spot where their hound dog was getting himself into. The other male hunter was husky and wore a brown leather hunter's uniform. And carried a rifle in his hand.

"Look at what our dumb dog discovered!" the strong, smart hunter said. His other partner kneeled beside him as their hound dog continued sniffing at his discovery. "Monster eggs! A whole nest of freshly made monster eggs!" said the concerned hunter.

The dog barked and started sniffing the green monster egg nest he dug up. "What is this about?" the masculine hunter asked, picking up a sticky, slimy eggshell in the nest. "We can't let the good citizens of Supernaturalville know we have monster infestation getting serious," he said.

His partner agreed. They started collecting the nest full of about six or so monster eggs in the nest. And putting them in a burlap sack and continuing looking for proof monsters exist in the darkness of difficult times to decide if it were a good idea to believe in them.

Then, making the lizard boy upset they disturbed an animal nesting ground, he burst through the darkness in the trees of the forest. And tackled the husky looking hunter, counting the monster eggs they gathered in their burlap sack.

Startling them, they sat the burlap sack aside. Getting out their weapons, they pointed their rifles loaded with silver bullets at the angry lizard boy. The guard dog jumped onto the burlap sack, protecting the captured monster eggs.

The two monster hunters wrestled with the lizard boy, who was not giving up protecting what made him want to put up a fight with them. The guard dog growled and laid on top of the burlap sack with the monster eggs.

"What? You can't be real!" the strong, monster hunter said, honestly. But being a professional hunter, he tried forcing the lizard boy to control his behavior. The lizard boy was not in a good mood. He didn't want them hunting monsters from becoming extinct.

"You're not going to make us disappear!" the lizard boy said, angrily. The hunters wrestled with the upset, angry, lizard boy from protecting himself. Then, the hound dog grabbed hold of the burlap sack with his strong, sharp teeth. And dragged it out of the path, where the hunters were fighting against a troublemaker.

Hiding in the brown sack in the trees, the hound dog started digging up a hole in the ground. After digging a deep hole in the wet ground, the hound dog started grabbing out the monster eggs with his teeth in the sack. And started burying each one of the slimy monster eggs back into the hole in the ground.

Then, grabbing hold of a monster egg out of the burlap sack his teeth, the brown hound dog took each one of them and buried them in another hole in the ground. He started pawing at the dirt, furiously. Trying to cover them up.

Wrestling with the two monster hunters, the lizard boy pinned them both to the ground with a powerful slam! Sandra got emotional seeing how easy it was for humans to be defeated by something powerful.

Sandra couldn't do anything but watch them with horror. And scream!
