[System Notification: Floor 31 Challenge in Progress - Survive the Shadows.]
The moment the chilling voice faded, the darkness moved. Shadows slithered across the walls, twisting into grotesque figures with glowing crimson eyes. The air grew heavier, thick with malice.
Elias and Althea stood back-to-back, senses sharp.
"Here they come," Althea murmured, gripping her sword. A faint golden glow pulsed from the blade, its holy energy cutting through the oppressive gloom.
Elias raised his hands, crackling electricity dancing across his fingertips. His Primal Roar had stunned the first assassin, but these creatures were different. They weren't just hiding in the darkness-they were part of it.
A whisper of movement.
A shadowy blade lashed out from the void. Elias barely dodged, feeling the cold air brush past his neck.
He retaliated instantly-Elemental Fury: Lightning Spear.
A bolt of white-hot electricity pierced through the darkness. A screech echoed as the creature was obliterated.
[System Notification: Shadow Stalker defeated. No abilities absorbed.]
Before he could celebrate, four more emerged, shifting like smoke, silent as death.
Althea moved first. With a single arc of her sword, divine light ripped through one of the creatures, making it dissolve into nothing. She twirled, dodging an incoming strike, and countered with a brutal downward slash.
Elias followed her lead. Beast Mastery enhanced his reflexes-he felt their movements before they attacked. His body twisted, narrowly avoiding a dagger aimed at his ribs.
He countered with Primal Roar, stunning the attacker just long enough for him to unleash a lightning-infused punch.
Boom!
The impact shattered the creature into dust.

Elias smirked. "Not so tough now, are you?"
But his grin disappeared when he noticed something-the darkness wasn't fading.
Instead, it was growing thicker.
A sinister laugh echoed through the labyrinth.
"Good," the voice purred. "You're learning. But can you fight what you cannot see?"
The entire corridor plunged into pitch-black darkness.
Even Althea's holy light was swallowed whole.
Elias' heartbeat quickened. He could hear them now. The whisper of blades. The shifting of unseen enemies.
This was their true trial.
