Chapter 41- Deeper Into Darkness

[System Notification: Floor 32 - The Hunt Continues.]

The moment they stepped through the passageway, the oppressive darkness thickened, swallowing even the faintest sliver of light. The labyrinth twisted unnaturally, the walls shifting, closing in, then expanding again as if alive.

Elias clenched his fists, his Beast Mastery sharpening his instincts. Every fiber of his being screamed that they were being watched.

Althea exhaled, gripping her sword tighter. "This place is cursed."

A whisper.

Then another.

The air trembled, and without warning, the darkness lashed out.

Elias barely dodged as a shadowy tendril shot toward him, sharp as a spear. He countered with a lightning-infused punch, the energy flaring through the darkness.

The attack connected-but it passed through like smoke.

Althea slashed her glowing blade at another tendril, her divine energy briefly pushing back the shadows.

"They're not solid!" she shouted.

Elias grit his teeth. Then how do we kill them?

More tendrils rushed forward, twisting around Elias' arm, squeezing with unnatural strength.

He let out a growl, activating Primal Roar.

A wave of force rippled out, tearing through the darkness. The tendrils recoiled, giving him a brief opening.

"We need more light!"

Althea nodded, stepping forward. Her entire body began to glow.

"Blessing of the Dawn!"

A golden radiance burst from her, illuminating the corridor.

The darkness screeched.

Figures began to emerge from the shifting void-twisted humanoid shadows with elongated claws and hollow eyes.

"They were hiding in the dark!" Elias realized.

Now, with their forms revealed, they could be killed.

Althea charged first.

Her blade sliced through the nearest creature, its body disintegrating into black smoke.

Elias followed suit, Elemental Fury igniting his fists. A powerful shockwave of lightning erupted as he punched straight through another shadow, its form bursting apart in sparks..

[System Notification: Umbral Phantom defeated.]

But the darkness wasn't done yet.

A deep growl rumbled ahead.

A figure stepped from the void-taller than the rest, its form rippling like liquid night. Its hollow eyes glowed violet, and two curved daggers gleamed in its hands.

A Shadow Assassin.

Althea tensed. "Be careful. That one feels... different."

The Assassin vanished.

Elias' instincts screamed-"Dodge!"

He barely moved in time as a blade sliced past his ribs, cold pain flaring through his side.

It's fast.

Too fast.

Elias clenched his jaw. He needed something

stronger.

His eyes flashed,

Divine Judgment.

Electricity crackled around his arms as he

raised them, focusing all his power into a single strike.

The Assassin reappeared-directly above him.

Too late.

A blinding surge of lightning erupted, crashing through the darkness like a storm.

BOOM!

The Assassin screamed, its body disintegrating in a flash of divine energy.

[System Notification: Shadow Assassin defeated.]

The corridor trembled. The darkness seemed to pull back.

Elias exhaled, panting.

Althea smirked. "Well, that was dramatic."

He shot her a look. "You're welcome."

She chuckled, sheathing her sword. "Come on. We're not done yet."

As they moved forward, the path ahead shifted once more-leading deeper into the labyrinth.

Floor 32 was conquered.

The real nightmare was still ahead.
