14. Match

It was a real eye-opener.

After I had started the medication, I only thought they put something in the meds that made quiet little puppets out of the Omegas, never would I have thought what they gave us would make us addicted.

Not so much as to take it before the heat, but not little enough to ever forget to take them.

Maybe they just wanted to be freed from omegas during heat, running about and throwing themselves at alphas because they forgot to take their medications.

However, constant heats without a relief could be as damaging. It was difficult to decide. I would have to wait for the pup's first heat to be over before asking him what he preferred.

Anyway. Because the school had naturally upper school years, today I could watch already-long differentiated Alphas fighting in their werewolf form.

Really, a true picture of power and splendor.

I think it is already deeply etched in each Omega to be awed by at least the wolf-forms of Alphas. Not even I, without glands, could avert my eyes.

I'm still finding them dumb, but also insanely mighty.

Though, their appearance was more grotesque than our form was perceived as.

With eerie features, and stretched hind legs, the claws were nearly hairless, as were the protruding spines. They were nothing like the sweet dogs we were; instead, they were real monsters.

If I imagine some evolved human sleeping with such a beast like it was spoken of in the legend... Maybe the evolved wolves were more human-looking, but that wouldn't make much sense, given that with time and mixes with betas, we had watered our beastly behavior down considerably.

Maybe it was a man who had sex with a female evolved wolf? That, seemed more possible, but just as sick. Every one of us was the product of some outrageous act that we better not know of, that for sure.

Still, the roars of the monsters made me a bit excited, as if my body was attempting to choose whoever would come out as a winner.

Really strange, perhaps they deluded a smell that was not perceived, but was strong enough that it influenced us, even without glands. Or, it was my 'female' wolf nature that spoke, constantly searching for the best provider.

The fight was really taking long. Fresh baked alphas would mostly seek someone they could measure their strength with. It can't be someone too weak because it would make them look bad. Too strong, with them losing in their few first matches, was, however, also a disgrace.

Alphas would mostly fight in their human form in the school arena, but occasionally, we had something like this displayed.

They would automatically go for the neck, wanting to unconsciously kill whoever was able to steal their future position, even if they were of different packs.

When it was over, everyone was still alive, albeit not at all unharmed, the ring was now a bloody AND hairy mess.

Blood dries so damn fast, so I had to empty the bucket over it to get it removable again. Then I scrubbed the floor, the audience in the arena was meanwhile talking about the match, and about whatever.

Usually, I would zone out, not really interested in school gossip. But, this time I feared that they would talk about the pup, so I listened in.

"I thought Liam would win…" Someone murmured.

"Nothing works out for him since his best friend turned into that.." Oh, the werewolf that had just lost could be the former best friend of the pup. The one that had beaten him yesterday.

"I thought his family would kill him. The strongest pack, and then you have your heir turn into an Omega, imagine the disgrace."

I was stunned, but did not stop my work. So the pup was really some celebrity, and that from... ....what? The strongest pack? Who would have thought?

"Even his engagement was dissolved on the same day the news came out..." Oh boy.

"And he also provoked Liam..."

"Should be happy that he is still alive."

"Can you imagine him with a pregnant belly? It's hilarious."

Ah, I don't want to hear more, but I still did listen to them trash talking the pub, at the same time insulting every other Omega.

I sometimes really wished that they were a magic fluid that I could pour into their food, making them the very existence they hate so much. If we were the majority of society, everything would change.

When I was nearly finished, I had to make sure that everything was dry for the next match. Imagine a werewolf slipping, outrageous.

The voices talking went silent at some point, and when I turned around, I saw emerald eyes looking down on me from the highest level of the arena.

I'll have to warn the pup from coming here, it wasn't good for him.

Leaving the arena, I washed and refilled the bucket in the staff room besides the arena, before again standing in attendance to the side, where the door was. It was also in the highest row.

The pup walked to me.

"You like these fights?" He asked quietly.

"D-d-don't talk i-in pub-public to m-me." I said back quietly.

"No. I want to talk to you, and as long as you and I have nothing to lose, I can only promise that I act discreet. But I will not hide, and even lesser will I only speak to you when nobody is around."

"S-Stubborn." I smiled.
