Chapter 5

I looked at Jade's pale face with amusement.

She suddenly stood up, staring at her own signature on the agreement in front of her. When she saw the name "Jade" written there, she panicked instantly.

"Brent, you still kept this agreement?"

"You said you loved me and trusted me, but it turns out you had a backup plan all along."

Jade grabbed the ashtray from the table and hurled it at me again. This time, I dodged it easily.

Years ago, she might have loved me, which is why she voluntarily brought the agreement to me and said, "Brent, you've sacrificed so much for me. I have no way to repay you except to stay by your side forever, never leaving you."

With tears in her eyes, she gently caressed that scar, suddenly pulling me into her embrace.

Back then, when she said she loved me, it was genuine.

But once a marriage goes through the seven-year itch, all that's left is boredom.
