Chapter 4

Jade, seeing that I had no intention of begging for mercy, quickly picked up the pen and signed her name.

"Brent, you brought this on yourself."

Jade tossed the divorce papers onto me.

My assistant helped me hold them, then quietly stood behind me.

Jaxon hurriedly scurried to Jade's side like a lapdog.

"Darling, don't be angry."

"You're carrying my child now, you need to be careful."

With those words, the shareholders began whispering among themselves.

"Poor Mr. Langdon. He never should have given Ms. Shaw full control back then. His carefully nurtured marriage and company, now snatched away by someone else."

"But Ms. Shaw is so ruthless! She's driving Mr. Langdon into the ground!"

"Enough, shut up."

Hearing these embarrassing comments, Jade silenced the shareholders with a glare.

Jaxon, puffing himself up with borrowed authority, pointed at the shareholders.

"Anyone who keeps running their mouth can follow Brent out the door. You can be buddies in hardship."

Though dissatisfied, the shareholders didn't dare offend them.

"Brent, since you've signed the divorce papers, go home, pack your things, and get out."Looking at Jaxon's disgusting face, I couldn't resist lifting my foot and kicking him down.

"Leave? This is my company, Brent's company. Why should I leave?"

Instantly, the conference room erupted into chaos. It took everyone's full strength to pull Jaxon and me apart.

Jade lost her cool. Seeing Jaxon's face swollen from my punch, she angrily called security to come and throw me out.

The atmosphere suddenly became oppressive, and no one dared to speak.

In everyone's eyes, only pity remained for me.

Once upon a time, I was incredibly successful, leading them to achieve one big project after another, reaching the pinnacle.

Now, the empire I had worked so hard to build for half my life was snatched away by my cheating wife, who was even kicking me out.

Anyone would find this hard to bear.

"Jade, don't be so ruthless. Leave people a way out. It's better for everyone."

Just for a Jaxon who's more handsome than me but utterly useless, she was pushing me to the brink of death.

I thought drugging me to make me sterile was cruel enough, but I never imagined there could be something even crueler.

"Even if it means killing you, who told you to dare defy me?"

"Wouldn't it be better if you just obediently did as you're told?"

So it turns out she always wanted me to be her lapdog, coming when called and leaving when dismissed.

At this moment, she extinguished the last bit of sympathy I had in my heart. As my thoughts wandered, security burst through the door, seemingly waiting for just one command from Jade to throw me out.

But I calmly took a seat, my composure driving Jaxon and the others crazy.

Simply because they weren't getting the scene they'd imagined of me begging on my knees.

"Get him out of here, and don't ever let him set foot in this company again."

Jade glared at me with her sharpest gaze.

But three minutes passed, and the security guards still hadn't moved a muscle.

"Are you all deaf? Didn't you hear Ms. Shaw's orders?"

No one paid any attention to Jaxon's barking, that lapdog.

"Stop yelling, it's useless." "Back then, I did indeed hand over the shares to you, but you also signed an agreement. If it was discovered that you cheated and betrayed me, you wouldn't be able to use those shares." "You'd also have to leave with nothing, and that baby in your belly is the best evidence of your infidelity."

I pulled out the agreement Jade had signed years ago, opening it up for her to see clearly.

"Forgot about what you signed yourself?"
