Chapter 12

Jaxon and I's relationship had spread through our social circle.

It didn't take a genius to figure out Clayton was behind it.

I hadn't yet met Jaxon's fiancée, but his mother showed up instead.

She was a beautiful woman, graceful yet spirited.

"Ten million dollars. Leave my son. He's the heir to the Langdon family. He should marry a girl from a suitable background, not a divorcée."

I pushed the card back.

"You should talk to Jaxon about this. If he agrees to end our relationship, I'll leave immediately. I think you should respect his opinion."

Mama Langdon had a knowing look, thinking I found the amount insufficient.

"Twenty million. All I'm asking is for you to break up with him first, even a text message will do."

"Then you'll go abroad. I can arrange tickets and housing in any country you want. Just never show your face to Jaxon again."

Twenty million was tempting, but I remembered what he once told me...

"None of this matters more than you!"

I still refused.
