Chapter: 31
*****
Liam's POV:
Ezekiel looked tense. It was the first time I'd ever seen him that way. His usual cocky, unbothered demeanor was gone, replaced by something unreadable. Something uneasy.
I had only caught parts of what he was saying, but the words trouble and the world collapsing stood out. And then, my name.
My stomach twisted.
"It's nothing you should worry about, Liam," he said, already trying to leave.
But I stepped in front of him, shoving him back. My patience had thinned to nothing. "You can't tell me it's nothing, Zeke. You can't. I heard you clearly."
His expression hardened. "I said it's nothing. It has nothing to do with you."
His voice was carefully neutral, too controlled. He was lying.
"Don't do that," I growled. "Don't gaslight me."
