Chapter 7: Arrogant Lobby Manager

And a light golden vial appeared in front of him.

Its information appeared below, and he carefully read it.

[Ultimate Potion (Elementary)

Effect: A special potion—after drinking it, the host's all stats will be improved by 2 points.]

Seeing this prize, his eyes almost widened in surprise, as this was exactly what he needed most. Due to his previous self's nearly degenerate lifestyle, his body was very weak and lacked any real strength.

He was worried about how to reverse all the damage—even with proper diet, exercise, and planning, it would have taken a long time. But now, with this, he could greatly shorten the time and make himself stronger quickly.

He thought about clicking it in his mind, and that vial immediately appeared in his pants pocket.

He groped for it and found that it was also about the length of a mini finger.

He still remembered the previous experience, so he didn't want to drink it yet. He had to go home first and make preparations; otherwise, who knows what side effects it would have this time.

Thinking about the identity of the mysterious woman who took his virginity, he decided to investigate it first.

So, he straightened himself up and walked toward the reception in the lobby.

An average-looking woman with heavy makeup greeted him.

"Hello, sir, how can I help you?" Her attitude was extremely perfunctory, but seeing his handsome face, she immediately became enthusiastic, and her eyes almost turned into hearts.

But he didn't care, as he wasn't in the mood to care about every random person, and he just stated his purpose:

"Can I check last night's CCTV footage?"

"What?" she asked absent-mindedly.

"Can I check last night's CCTV footage?" he repeated.

"Sorry, sir, this is against our policy, as it concerns customers' privacy. And if I wanted to, I don't have the authority," she replied embarrassingly.

"Okay, then call your superior or someone who has authority," Rex replied in a serious tone.

Seeing that he was serious, she immediately called someone on the phone and explained the situation.

Soon a middle-aged man with sparse hair, a big belly, and shifty eyes came. His posture screamed arrogance.

He came to Rex and scanned him from head to toe; seeing him wearing ordinary clothes, a displeased look appeared on his face.

Even though the clothes Rex wore weren't anywhere close to cheap, in his eyes they were the same as clothes sold on street stalls.

So, he spoke with his head held high, "Are you the one who wants to check CCTV footage?"

Hearing his voice dripping with arrogance, Rex raised his eyebrows.

"Are you the owner of this hotel?" he asked, a slight smirk playing on the corner of his mouth.

"No, but I'm the lobby manager here, and my uncle is the manager of this hotel," he spoke with pride.

"Huh! Boy, are you even qualified to even meet the owner of this hotel?" he responded sarcastically.

Seeing his posture and tone, Rex knew that he wasn't going to be of any help, so he spoke without much care:

"I don't care if you are the lobby manager or the hobby manager here; I just want to check the CCTV footage from last night, as I have something important to see."

Hearing this, the pot-bellied middle-aged man became furious, "Boy, are you courting death?"

Hearing this classic villain's line, Rex was stunned; he hadn't thought that anyone would actually use that line in real life.

But soon, he couldn't help laughing "Hahahaha,"—he laughed so hard that tears almost fell.

Wiping his tears, he replied, "Sorry, I suddenly remembered something funny—go on, hahahaha."

Even though he didn't know why he suddenly started laughing, he knew it must be something related to him. The middle-aged man's face flushed with anger.

He hadn't been humiliated by someone like this since he became the lobby manager of this prestigious hotel especially by a kid who hasn't even grown hairs.

He pointed a finger at his nose and was about to scold him.

When suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his finger and saw that Rex was holding it tightly and clenching it tightly.

He immediately began screaming like a pig, "Auch, agh! Boy, let my finger go right now; otherwise, you'll be responsible for your own actions!"

Hearing this, instead of loosening, Rex tightened his grip even more, and his joking look immediately turned serious.

In his past life, he had always kept his head down and tried his best not to offend anyone—even if someone scolded him face-to-face, he would just suppress his anger and smile like an idiot because he knew he didn't have any backing, money, or anything of the sort to rely on. If something really happened, even if it was trivial, it could ruin his whole life.

He couldn't afford to make mistakes, as he had nothing to hedge the risk.

He had heard at work in his previous life about how an old employee offended a company director and got his life ruined.

"Offending" was an overstatement; he just talked back and said something spur-of-the-moment due to frequent, unmerited scolding.

The consequence was that he was immediately estranged from work, and even those who had close relations kept their distance; a few days later, he was fired because of a bad attitude and an attempt to embezzle company funds.

Later, the police arrested him. Even though, in the end, he was declared innocent, it was too late by then—his wife had divorced him, she left with his kids, and no company would hire him again, even though he tried for the most trivial positions.

He later heard that he was doing manual labor in his forties and living with his old parents.

He also sighed at that time and felt sorry for him. And honestly, it wasn't an isolated case; there were numerous cases like this—in some extreme cases, becoming disabled or even getting killed was possible.

It's just that most people don't know, or someone suppresses the news; sometimes even the person involved doesn't know what wrong they have done and just attributes it to bad luck and fate.

This was also the reason he decided to keep a low profile in the future.

For ordinary people, this world isn't a merciful place. If you offend some wealthy or powerful person who is narrow-minded, then there really isn't anything in this world that can save them.

But not in this life.

He has decided to live a carefree and leisurely life without any worries or regrets, and he doesn't want to live in constant fear that his actions could offend someone.

Because first of all, he is also rich now—even though $100 million isn't a huge amount, it's also not a small amount.

He already has enough power to protect himself, as long as he doesn't do something outrageous like killing someone.

And finally—and most importantly—he has a system now, and that's his biggest reliance. As long as he keeps his feet on the ground, he doesn't have to worry about trivial matters like this.

Back to the topic: loud howling and screaming immediately attracted the attention of everyone in the lobby, as they stopped what they were doing and looked toward them curiously.

But no one came forward to help or mediate; they seemed to be enjoying a show.

The potbellied man kept screaming miserably, and seeing this, the hotel staff exchanged glances and immediately ran forward to help the middle-aged man, fearing he would retaliate afterwards because of not helping.

Someone immediately called security, and soon several security guards came running and surrounded him.

They held their batons, looking for an opportunity to take him down in one shot.

Strangely, instead of fear, Rex felt a bit excited even though he knew that his chance of success was infinitely close to zero as his heart pounded faster and his jaw clenched with anticipation.

It seemed he also had undiscovered strange tendencies—or maybe it was the confidence that money and the system had given him.

Seeing the situation, most onlookers knew that the matter was coming to an end, people couldn't help but pity him, and some girls even covered their eyes to avoid witnessing the violent scene. Even though they didn't know the reason they knew that this handsome boy wouldn't be able to escape unscathed, unless a miracle happens.

The pot-bellied man suppressed his howling and became happy again. If Rex hadn't clutched his hand, he would have taken the baton from the security guard and personally taught the boy a lesson.

Just when the situation reached breaking point and was about to escalate, they heard an extremely majestic and angry roar.

"STOP! DON'T TRY TO MOVE AND KEEP YOUR WEAPONS DOWN!"

Everyone froze. No one when knew that when a group of imposing bodyguards with bulging muscles and intimidating gazes, wearing neat uniforms and carrying guns, had entered the lobby.

Seeing the guns, people screamed and immediately tried to flee, only to find themselves surrounded.

A few minutes earlier, just when Rex and the pot-bellied man were talking, the people from Arcanum Security Company had reached the hotel door. Just as they were about to enter, they heard the loud screams from inside.

William's heart immediately tightened because this was the location of their meeting with Rex, the new controller of their company branch.

Beads of cold sweat appeared on his forehead; he silently prayed that nothing should happen to him, otherwise the consequences would be unbearable.

Other bodyguards also became alert and immediately took out their weapons. As they entered the hotel, they saw that a crowd had gathered, and when William clearly saw that Rex was surrounded by security guards, he felt as if the world was spinning. But as a professional, he immediately composed himself.

Because he was the only one who had seen Rex's picture, others were still confused and didn't know what to do.

He immediately ordered some of his men to secure the area and rushed toward Rex.
