Appearances After the Resurrection

In the days that followed, Jesus appeared to His disciples and many others, giving them undeniable proof that He was alive. On the road to Emmaus, two disciples walked in sorrow, discussing the events of Jesus' crucifixion. A stranger joined them, explaining how the Scriptures had foretold everything that had happened. As they sat down to eat, the stranger broke bread—and in that moment, they recognized Him. It was Jesus! But as soon as they realized it, He vanished.

Jesus also appeared to the eleven disciples, showing them His hands and side, where the nails and spear had pierced Him. He spoke peace over them and breathed the Holy Spirit upon them, commissioning them to continue His work. However, one disciple, Thomas, was not present. When the others told him that Jesus had risen, he doubted, saying:

"Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe." (John 20:25)

A week later, Jesus appeared again, this time directly addressing Thomas. He invited Thomas to touch His wounds, saying, "Stop doubting and believe." Overcome with awe, Thomas fell to his knees, exclaiming, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus responded with a timeless blessing:

"Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29)

This powerful encounter reassures believers throughout history that faith does not require physical sight—only trust in the truth of Jesus Christ.
