The Angelia Mountains stood tall, their snow-covered peaks stretching endlessly across the horizon. This unforgiving land had long been a natural barrier between the Re-Estize Kingdom and the Baharuth Empire. Despite both nations knowing that the mountains held rich resources—precious ores, rare herbs, and magical crystals, neither dared to stake their claim.
The reason was simple.
These mountains were a land of monsters.
Ferocious beasts roamed freely, preying on anything that dared to set foot in their domain. The extreme cold only made survival harder, and few ever returned from expeditions to these parts. This had left the Angelia Mountains unclaimed and unexplored, a place of both great danger and great opportunity.
But today, the silence of these ancient peaks was shattered.
Kael Drakon had arrived.
Riding atop Hamsuke, the once-proud Wise King of the Forest, he advanced into the snow-covered wasteland, his cold gaze sweeping over the landscape. The air was thick with the scent of undeath, a clear indication of the monsters lurking nearby.
Within moments, a swarm of skeleton warriors emerged from the thick mist, their hollow eyes glowing with eerie blue light. Armed with rusted swords and brittle shields, they charged forward mindlessly, their bony feet crunching against the ice.
Kael did not even flinch.
Raising his hand, he formed a Sky Spear, its shape twisting into a sleek, spiraling javelin of destruction. With a flick of his wrist, he hurled it forward.
The spear pierced through multiple skeletons in an instant, their fragile bodies shattering into dust upon impact.
More approached from the sides, attempting to surround him.
Kael teleported mid-air, reappearing behind them in an instant. Before they could react, he unleashed another Sky Spear, this time breaking it into multiple shards that rained down like a meteor shower.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Bones scattered in all directions, leaving nothing but the icy wind in their wake.
Hamsuke galloped forward, trampling over the remains as Kael continued to clear the undead with effortless precision, reducing the battlefield to nothing but frozen ash.
With the skeletons defeated, he turned his attention to the Three Rulers of the Angelia Mountains.
The Phoenix – Ruler of the Skies
The Frost Dragon King – Ruler of Ice and Cold
The Lava Ruler – Master of Fire and Earth
He would hunt them all, starting with the first.
"Hamsuke, move. We have a bird to kill."
Finding the Phoenix wasn't difficult.
As Kael and Hamsuke crossed a frozen canyon, the sky darkened, and a massive shadow loomed above.
A brilliant bird of fire, with wings spanning over twenty meters, descended from the heavens. Golden flames trailed behind it, melting the snow below as its sharp gaze locked onto him.
With a deafening shriek, it launched a barrage of fireballs, each one large enough to incinerate a house.
Kael teleported mid-air, dodging effortlessly as the flames exploded against the ice below, sending thick plumes of steam into the air.
He retaliated instantly. Summoning a Sky Spear infused with 40% of his mana, he hurled it with all his strength.
The Phoenix tried to dodge, but it was too late. The spear struck its right wing, sending it spiraling downward in a fiery spin.
Kael appeared directly above it, summoning another Sky Spear—this time, doubling its size and driving it straight through the bird's chest.
The impact sent the Phoenix crashing into the mountain cliffs, flames sputtering out as its body twitched violently before going still.
Hamsuke, watching from below, swallowed nervously. "Thy grace is… terrifying, my lord."
Kael stepped off the Phoenix's lifeless body, uninterested. "One down. Next."
But before he could seek out his next major target, he found another creature lurking within the mountains—a Fire Dragon.
Unlike true dragons, this creature was no more than an oversized red-scaled lizard, barely intelligent and lacking any real magical power. But it was still strong, standing at over eight meters tall, with molten breath capable of melting steel.
The Fire Dragon roared, spewing a massive wave of flames.
Kael teleported mid-air, avoiding the attack, then reappeared behind its head, forming another Sky Spear.
This time, he was toying with it.
He teleported from one side to another, appearing and disappearing so quickly that the beast grew confused, its massive claws swiping at empty air.
Frustrated, the dragon roared again, preparing to unleash another wave of fire.
Kael didn't let it.
He hurled a Sky Spear straight into its open maw, piercing through the back of its skull. The beast's eyes widened in shock before it collapsed lifelessly, the flames in its throat flickering out.
Hamsuke hesitated before approaching. "Even beasts that once ruled this land fall before thee… Thou art truly unmatched, my lord."
Kael's expression remained indifferent. This wasn't a real dragon—just a mere lizard playing pretend. His true prey still awaited.
He continued searching for the Frost Dragon King and the Frost Giants, but they remained hidden.
Instead, he encountered a Quagoa, one of the mole-like creatures that lived within the mountains. These creatures were known for their greed and savagery, often raiding settlements for food and weapons.
Kael stepped forward. "Take me to the Dwarf Kingdom."
The Quagoa snarled, showing its sharp teeth. "No! The dwarves are gone! We rule the mountains now!"
Kael's eyes glowed coldly. "I wasn't asking."
A Sky Spear hovered in the air, its tip gleaming ominously. The Quagoa shook but still refused.
Kael sighed. This was a waste of time.
He glanced at Hamsuke and made a small gesture. The massive hamster pretended to trip, knocking the Quagoa aside and letting it escape.
Kael smirked. "Follow it."
He moved silently, trailing the creature as it fled through a complex series of underground tunnels. The winding paths twisted and turned, leading him deeper beneath the mountains, until—
He arrived at the abandoned Dwarf Capital.
The once mighty underground city, filled with forges, strongholds, and ancient craftsmanship, now lay in ruins.
But Kael knew that this place held more than just Quagoa.
The Frost Dragon King—the true ruler of ice and cold—was somewhere within these caves.
And soon, he would find it.
