I decided to drop the act and lay all my cards on the table.
"Garrison, you heard me right. I called out your brother's name."
"Listen carefully. He's a clone, but not of you. He's a clone of your brother."
Garrison's face turned from pale to flushed as he listened, but he clearly hadn't grasped the main point yet.
"Jolene, what are you talking about? Can't have me, so you're fantasizing about my brother?"
"He's dead! Why would you do this? You're being so twisted!"
Listening to Garrison's outburst, I was at a loss for words. He was so full of himself.
"Do you remember the incident at Dane's funeral?"
"His girlfriend was so overcome with grief that she tried to take her own life by jumping into the river, but she was rescued in the end."
"She was bedridden in the hospital for nearly a year. Afterward, she decided to participate in a cloning program and spent the next seven years looking for a stand-in to ease her heartache."
